So here goes, good reviews, low part-count and VERY interesting subject matter the Westland Whirlwind...

The Westland Whirlwind was a British twin-engined heavy fighter developed by Westland Aircraft. A contemporary of the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane, it was the Royal Air Force's first single-seat, twin-engined, cannon-armed fighter.

When it first flew in 1938, the Whirlwind was one of the fastest and most heavily-armed combat aircraft in the world. Protracted development problems with its Rolls-Royce Peregrine engines delayed the project and only a relatively small number of Whirlwinds were built.

During the Second World War, only three RAF squadrons were equipped with the Whirlwind, and despite its successful use as a fighter and ground attack aircraft it was withdrawn from service in 1943.

This is a nice kit and a lovely aircraft. Looks like you've got a load of goodies to detail it up too.

Love this aircraft - have built it in 1/72 so looking forward to seeing how this one comes together for potential stash expansion!

It's all together now! After some filling n sanding she's masked off ready for an initial coat of primer...

Wow - that really has flown together ('scuse the pun) - looking forward to seeing it in paint now mate.

Any problems with the fit or has it all sealed up tightly except around the cowlings?

Yes it has "flown together", there is a low part count. Once the cockpit tub is sorted there is not much else to do! Fit is not to bad. Some filling along the fuselage seam and, as you can see from the last photo, the nose cone requires attention. The major fit issue are the engine nacelle upper surface, quite a step here.
The underside is painted now as is the grey on the upper surface, just the green to do tomorrow. I might even have time for the gloss coat!

She is now all painted but no time for a gloss coat as the bloody masking tape pulled a huge chunk of pain off

So with that and some other touching up she must wait until the morning for the gloss coat. The under side is Gull Grey and the upper side medium Sea Grey with RAF Green.

Looking really great! Shame about that paint lifting off with the masking tape though - what paint did you use?

Thanks for the nice comments gents..

I have used Mr Color over Ultimate primer. But no real worries as I;ve touched it up and you can't see the seams
