PE cylinders

Post by Augustus »

How do you make them without a rolling set?
I've heard of people using things like screwdrivers etc but what's the process? Are there any vids out there?

A quick and fairly easy way is to use a big rubber eraser as a base and something thin and round as your rolling tool
That could be a screwdriver or a firm and long metal needle or even a big nail
Just put the part on the eraser and use your tool to roll or push over the part moving from one side to the other
It will start to form a cylinder in the proces but it could be that you need to focus on some areas to get a better result
Atleast this is what i did before i bought a rolling set and i still do this with smaller parts
I hope this helps

Cheers Mark I'll try to source some things and give that a go. I just don't use enough PE to justify a roller, but I love tools so I'll get around to it one day.

you just need a semi soft base mat even a cutting mat will do the trick. A rod type implement smaller in diameter than you need and then start in the middle of the pe pushing down and rolling at the same time

I have all the PE tools and i can tell you that they are nothing more then a luxury
I use quite a lot of PE but i rarely use those tools
My main tools for PE are a heavy duty hobby blade and 2 pairs of pliers
One round pair and a flat square pair
I only use the bending tool for really large parts and hinges and the rolling set is only used for larger tubes
The tools have their use but i don't use them as much as i thought i would
