Here we go Lightning, I have always loved the look of this aircraft - although I have heard that this isnt the best fitting kit out there - but never the less, I will carry on (although my mojo is low at this stage - just finished a low quality plastic model , and now that summer is here, there are a lot of high quality models out at the pool, and over 150 pints of cool IPA beer in my Keg fridge!).

Finish or not I'm in. 150 brewskis? That should see you through a couple weeks of this. Maybe one.

As I have finished my Whirlwind, I'm tempted to start my Hasagawa P-38?

100 more pints brewing - you make it to Denver this summer - bring your suit, leave the Wife/GF at home and come have a beer while enjoying the view.

Another Academy P-38? Those sprues look familiar... good luck to us both!

If I have time I may break out mine too, with the same mask set and AM decals. It didn't have any when I got it but it was cheap so meh. That kit seems to be everywhere. Good luck with the build :th:

Don't buy this kit - fits nicely in a trash can

Okay to say the fit on this kit is bad would be an understatement! The second kit I've thrown in the trash because the quality was so piss poor.

May take a break from this whole scale model building thing for a month or more...

I'm sorry about that...

:cheers2:

If it isn't fun for you then don't do it, no shame in that. I already have a kit consigned to the bin so I know the feeling. Hopefully you'll come back soon, but it's always nice to get out into the summer. :cheers2:

(This tale among other I why I think the only P-38 I'll ever do will be an egg plane lol)

Sorry to hear you've binned this one; I don't know if it's a rogue kit or Academy in general as my A10 is also spectacularly underwhelming in terms of shaping and fit - they're definitely not anywhere near any shopping list of mine for the foreseeable future.

Hope you get your mojo back and get something else together soon.

Oh, I share your frustration with this family of kits. So. Much. Putty. It is definitely a mojo-killer. I'm going to keep plowing ahead with mine, though, because I'm a cheapskate and don't want to put $30.00 in the trash. (So I'll spend valuable time on a lost cause -- yes, I know it's a false economy, but I can't help myself!) Meanwhile, it will be a long time before I buy another Academy kit without researching it beforehand.

:cheers2: Cheers to you, and best wishes on the next one!
