Global Scale Modeller

This kit will be another first for me not that it is amour but I am going to add the zimmerit by hand.

To start with I attached the rear plate to the hull along with the suspension arms









Then I made up the wheels ( there is a lot of them on this )





Then I decided to make up the exhausts as I am going to add the zimmerit I wanted to know how thick the zimmerit needed to be to still be able to attach these parts







The engine cover I think





The Gun travel lock, the jack and the Bosch headlight



Now when I came to adding the zimmerit I had watched some videos on youtube and I also asked Mike ( Coan scale modelling) on youtube and the forum as to his best way of adding this.
So I tried this with some white milliput and to make the impressions I used the flat end of a Tamiya paint stirrer.
I liked the effect this has made on the small section I have done.






The next section on the rear where the exhausts will be will be a bit trickier as it does not need to be too thick for adding the other parts on this section.

I did my Dragon Tiger I with hand-crafted Zimmerit and I'm personally not looking at ever doing that again! Ultimately I don't think the results were too bad using just regular Milliput, but the mantlet and every single round bit (around view ports, etc.) were a nightmare! Good luck with your attempt though. If you want feedback, I'd say the zimmerit you put on is a bit too thick, I'd lay the putty down thinner for the rest of the tank. I think you can use masking tape to mask off parts of the hull that you don't want any putty on.

Thanks for your input mate I agree I thought that this was a little on the thick side

I thought zim was about 0.3mm to be in scale.... I wouldn't be surprized if I was wrong though.

I have now idea mate this is my first time

I don't usually care about "scale thickness", I just scrub the putty until I can see the plastic shining through and then add just a little bit more.

As long as your happy so am I....I have never even attempted zim....so good on ya for having a go

Sorry guys but i'm finding it very difficult to reproduce the zimmerit. I thank you all for your comments and suggestions they have been very helpful but I think that this time this is going on the shelf for the time being.
