Global Scale Modeller

My next build will be this new kit from Bobcat Models, their Yak-28P Firebar.
Aftermarket extras include:-
NeOmega resin seats.
Aerobonus Soviet Cold War resin pilots.
Plus Models crew ladder.
An initial look at the sprues shows some good surface details, and well laid out, if very plain, instructions.
Although a limited number of paint schemes, there's loads of marking options on the decal sheet.

Cockpit is completed.
This a very well detailed cockpit, straight out of the box. The NeOmega resin seats are nice, but not quite to the standard of Aries or Eduard.
First photo shows the cockpit pre-weathering. Weathering done using Ultimate dark dirt wash, and lightly drybrushed with aluminium. Alclad Aqua gloss on the dials.

Fuselage, engines and wings assembled.
Fuselage fit was fine.
The engine casings, however, weren't so good. One side was good, with a small step on one side that needed to be "encouraged" into place. The other side has a huge gap, as you can see from the photo, and further gaps around the remaining joins too. So plenty of plastic putty used. Now all,is good.
When Bobcat start to produce the proposed bomber, and recce versions, I hope they can sort the fit issue out.
Again, I'm finding the surface detail is very good.

All the filling and sanding is now done on the wing/engine assemblies. They're looking much better now.
The wings are now fitted to the fuselage, and the fit here is very good. A little bit of sanding at each end of the wing roots, and they fitted straight into the wing root recess.
Just masking off the canopy and cockpit to do, and we're ready for a bit of primer.

Nearly finished the project builds I've been doing, is now it's back to the Firebar!
First lot of masking done, for the panel colour variation.

So my juggling continues.
Whilst I'm the doing decals and weathering on the MiG-17, I'm masking off areas on the Yak. Already one different metallic shade applied, this round of masking is for the next shade. After this, I then masked off the nosecone, tail, and leading edge of the engine intake.
The last few photos show the end result, so it looks like I'm about ready to get some gloss on, then I'm ready for the decals.

Got the decals, and stencils, applied. Some decals on the missiles too.
Sealed the decals with a couple of coats of Alclad Aqua Gloss, and I let that dry overnight.
Then a wash, with Ultimate's Dark Dirt. Even before cleaning of the excess, the Ultimate wash has really picked out the detail, great stuff.

That is one sexy aircraft!
Love the engines on the wings and nice job on the wash. Makes it look authentic.

Thank you. I've yet to clean the wash up a bit, and remove some of the excess.

Made a start on the weathering, on Friday, before heading off to work. 
Tamiya Weathering Master used:-
All decals blended in with Gunmetal and Silver
Staining some with Oil Stain.
