And the first part of the build will be the Cockpit Sprue C1:




Going to remove all the parts and undercoat as I go. Painting each part before assembly.
All I know is that I am going to enjoy this one hope you guys have fun following it...

Ok onto the cockpit. I sourced these images of the original films working model. The cockpit is very dark I guess they were not expecting many close up shots.

I want to make mine slightly lighter in tone so you can see something inside. I have primed with Black Ultimate and panted in Mr Hobby with laquer thinner.

Next I will punch the details and varnish before doing some washes.


















Next will be the underside of the ship here's a teaser of whats to follow...

Great idea for the cockpit. That belly looks awesome to recreate, can't wait to see what you do with it.

Cockpits done and weathered TBH 1/144 is tiny and its really hard to get a decent picture. I tried to be as neat as possible but also wanted it to look worn, not easy at this scale











I will try and shoot some video taking you around this part of the build...

cockpit is looking really good, am really interested to see how you approach the outside as I'm still learning on the painting side of things, will be watching with interest as this looks a fun model to build.

Update:

Have been working on the underside to the ship now. have painted all the parts in various shades of light grey up to cream white. I have used Tamiya greys and Mrs Hobby paints in mixes trying to get a nice variation in tone.





You can see here the abtilung masking fluid which will be sprayed over with a light green base coat. I discovered this technique after watching Ant at Bashing kits who used this very same idea on one of his builds









I will paint the individual parts in light green then add them back to the underside of the hull ready for weathering. I have also made a video of the various stages so will upload that once completed this stage.

Update:

I've put a wash into the engine bays, painted the thruster nozzles and done some colour work to the underside pieces:










The engine nozzles I sprayed with metallic rust and then pulled the masking fluid off to reveal the lighter colour underneath. I then gave it a wash with Citadels Nuln oil, and finally dry brushed with gold. Think they came out ok...





Finally started working on the wings and done an initial weather but have a lot more to do:





I have just finished filming the process so will get that up in the next couple of days. Hopefully it will show in detail how I got to these stages a little more clearly

Its just awesome!

Underside painted and weathered. I used Mr Hobby paints in most parts and used oil based washes to pick out the details. I will get the vid up showing the process in more detail, once I've done a bit more to it...
