The next build is Tamiya’s 1/35 Panzer II, it’s a very old kit and the perfect quick build to get me back into armor. I don’t even remember where I got this but I’m sure it was a deal. We start with the inbox review.

Time to prime it with Vallejo black surface primer.

Gave it 24 hours to set and then put a coat of Tamiya XF 59 Desert Yellow

Now that the base coat is done, the decals have to be prepped. As they are quite old I brushed on a coat of Microscale Decal Film on them.

I also primed and painted the tracks with Tamiya XF-56 Metallic Grey

I see this kit all of the time at Hobby Lobby for $14 dollars and was wondering if it was a good kit. I think my next trip I will be using my 40% off coupon and picking up this one. Very nice work.

If I had a 40% off coupon I would be looking for a more expensive kit that was on my wish list....seems a waste for such a cheap kit.....just saying

Calling this one done. Sorry for the lack of final weathering photos but got it all done in a burst of work over two nights.
Decals went on with no issues, then applied a coat of aqua gloss to seal it in in preparation for weathering. Not a large amount of weathering was done but products such as pigments and washes from Ammo and Tamiya were used to make everything a bit more realistic.
Learned a few lessons and improved some weathering techniques. Looking forward to trying another armor kit.

I find with a bit of work and maybe a couple of extras these old Tamiya kits can still look good.

nicely executed, you have got a good mileage out of this older kit.
