hey sports fan's
been a couple of interesting days. model flew together, well kinda. welcome to krusty's I don't need to read any stink 'in directions. the model went together ok except, I glued all the landing gear backwards. :wall: all right cut those of, and reglue the legs. and she's all together.
Image
Image
ok so far so good shot a coat of ism primer in grey
Image
Image
hit the engines with alclad magnesium and taped them off. now the cockpit is really sparse and would look fantastic with some scratch building, but this is kinda of a filler until the holy land gb.
not that this is not a great build. but i'm not really a sci-fi guy. but Lysus being the leader of a small band of misfits that made me feel welcome to this forum. I felt the need to show up : , yeah and I remember the others too :cheers2: . you know who :naughty:
so on with the build, going to do a future navy paint job. shot the model with mig light compass gray, followed mig's instructions fro a new youtube video and sprayed gossamer coats and got it to lay down ok,
Image
I decided to do a digital paint job, now I used anachy model masks on my huey in the end is neigh gb, and had great luck. this time not so much.
let the train wreck begin
Image
Image
spraye some akan dark blue gray and had a really bad time with masks, a touch of air and some would fly right off the model  , like I said I had no problems with these in the past. they were placed on the model and then sprayed right away, so they have not been sitting for any period of time.

well i'm going to push on and fix what I can

Weird that they'd fail at grabbing the surface like that, was there something about the paint maybe? I dunno...

That's gone together really quickly mate and nice save on the landing gear too - I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that sometimes takes a "relaxed" view of the instructions!

But that's bizarre with the masking - it's almost like the glue's dried out somehow.

Hope you manage to beat it back into some kind of order because that's going to look really cool :cheers2:

yeah tomcat you're one of them,
so anyway decided not to get mental and crack on (I love British jargon).so ever onward. pulled the masks already on the viper and laid on some new ones, went as fast as possible and then sprayed a mig flat black. had the same problem but decided not to worry about it. I'm not entirely displeased with the result. no I just need to clear and decal  , I have no idea what those are going to be. well of to the decal box to see what I can find

wow what a fantastic looking wee kit and even though you had some issues with the camo masking i think the faded edges on some gives it a nice worn look

hey guy's thank's for following along.
well got a couple coats of future clear on yesterday. and got the decals and some detail painting done today. dug deep in the decal box and this is what I came up with. also used ak true metal for some of the highlights, well it needs a couple more coats of solvaset to get a few of the decals to lay down. I should be able to seal it in the morning and start the weathering tomorrow night

Krusty, this looks stunning.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the process with the paint masks? Do you lay some and spray a colour, lay some more and respray? I'm intrigued.

Regardless, it looks great.
:cheers2:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.
