Quick fun build

Post by RossiM1 »

Tamiya's old Lotus 7 MK11 kit been lying in the stash for eons, needed a quick fix build to take away the monotony of the decals on the Sea Vixen, assembled the engine added some HT leads and various wires made from stretched sprue, added some rear wheel arch linings due to some bad ejector pin marks that would be impossible to make a decent job of filling and sanding, sanded all the mould seams primed with Alclad grey filler primer, sanded then given four coats of Zero paint Camel Yellow, at this stage was still not sure where this was going to end up, found some camel decals in the decal bank, that sort gave me 1 idea, laid those on, then found some leftover 46's from the Yamaha M1 50th anniversary edition and now it's taken another direction, if I find anymore bits it may end up on tracks with a 88mm canon and a merlin engine under the bonnet.
Anyhow here is Frankensteins Lotus 7

Cheers Paul got some of the Black and white Yamaha decals to go next it may end up looking like a Yamaha that's morphed into a 1960's classic british sports car, seeming more like a bad LSD trip everytime I look at it

They have this thing called " DUSTING" John, you might want to google that

I would like to see the decal bank...I am imagining it like the bank in Harry Potter, guarded by dragons

Your both pretty close with the decal bank, it's actually 2 old Brinks matt security vans guarded by Solvaset toting 1/35 scale British Para's and Gundam robots.
Any how back in the real world progress of sorts, engine bay and the passenger compartment sprayed Valejo aluminium, then masked and the interior trim sprayed a mix of Hull red and x7 red to give a reddy brown vinyl look, motor installed and plumbed in suspension added, seats painted same reddy brown colour, dashboard detailed and dabs of krystal klear added to the dials, just some basic finishing off to do now like the wheels and windshield, and the harness's and a few more decals.
Here is where it's at for now.
