The History bit

Israeli Air Force
The Israeli Air Force (IAF; Hebrew: זְרוֹעַ הָאֲוִיר וְהֶחָלָל‎, Zroa HaAvir VeHahalal, "Air and Space Arm", commonly known as חֵיל הָאֲוִיר‎, Kheil HaAvir, "Air Corps") operates as the aerial warfare branch of the Israel Defense Forces. It was founded on May 28, 1948, shortly after the Israeli Declaration of Independence. As of May 2012 Aluf Amir Eshel serves as the Air Force Commander.
The Israeli Air Force formed on May 28, 1948, using commandeered or donated civilian aircraft and obsolete and surplus World War II combat-aircraft. Eventually, more aircraft were procured, including Boeing B-17s, Bristol Beaufighters, de Havilland Mosquitoes and KadeshP-51D Mustangs. The Israeli Air Force played an important part in Operation, Israel's part in the 1956 Suez Crisis, dropping paratroopers at the Mitla Pass. On June 5, 1967, the first day of the FocusSix-Day War, the Israeli Air Force executed Operation, crippling the opposing Arab air forces and attaining air supremacy for the remainder of the war. Shortly after the end of the Six-Day War, Egypt initiated the War of Attrition, and the Israeli Air Force undertook repeated bombings of strategic targets deep within enemy territory. When the Yom Kippur War broke out on October 6, 1973, Egyptian and Syrian advances forced the IAF to abandon detailed plans for the destruction of enemy air defences. Forced to operated under the missile and anti-aircraft artillery threat, the close air support it provided allowed Israeli troops on the ground to stem the tide and eventually go on the offensive.
Since that war most of Israel's military aircraft have been obtained from the United States. Among these are the F-4 Phantom II, A-4 Skyhawk, F-15 Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon. The Israeli Air Force has also operated a number of domestically produced types such as the IAI Nesher, and later, the more advanced OperaIAI Kfir. On June 7, 1981, eight IAF F-16A fighters covered by six F-15A jets carrie Mole Cricket 19d out Operation to destroy the Iraqi nuclear facilities at Osiraq. On June 9, 1982, the Israeli Air Force carried out Operation, crippling the Syrian air defence array. The IAF continued to mount attacks on Hezbollah and PLO positions in south Lebanon. On October 1, 1985, In response to a PLO terrorist attack which murdered three Israeli civilians in Wooden LegCyprus, the Israeli air force carried out Operation. The strike involved the bombing of PLO Headquarters in SolomonTunis, by F-15 Eagles. In 1991, the IAF carried out Operation which brought AccountabilityEthiopian Jews to Israel. In 1993 and 1996, the IAF p Grapes of Wratharticipated in Operation and Operation, respectively. It took part in many missions since, including during the Protective Edge Pillar of Cloud Cast Lead2006 Lebanon War, Operation Orchard, Operation and Operation. On September 6, 2007, the Israeli Air Force successfully bombed an alleged Syrian nuclear reactor in Operation.

The Bell UH-1N Twin Huey is a twin-engine medium military helicopter. A member of the numerous Huey family, it first flew in 1969. The CUH-1N Twin Huey (later CH-135 Twin Huey) was the original version, first ordered by the Canadian Forces.
The UH-1N has a fifteen-seat configuration, with one pilot and fourteen passengers. In cargo configuration it has an internal capacity of 220 ft³ (6.23 m³). An external load of up to 5,000 lb (2,268 kg) can be carried. The UH-1N was later developed into the civil Bell 212.

Development
Based on the stretched fuselage Bell 205, the Bell 212 was originally developed for the Canadian Forces (CF) under the designation CUH-1N Twin Huey. Later the CF adopted a new designation system and the aircraft was re-designated CH-135 Twin Huey. The CF approved the development of the aircraft on 1 May 1968 and purchased 50 aircraft, with deliveries commencing in May 1971.

The US military came very close to not procuring the Twin Huey. The purchase of the aircraft for US military use was opposed by the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee at the time, Whitney Canada PT6T &L. Mendel Rivers. Rivers took this position because the aircraft powerplant, the Pratt was produced in Canada. The Liberal Canadian government of the time had not supported US involvement in Vietnam and had opposed US policies in southeast Asia, as well as accepting US draft dodgers. Rivers was also concerned that procurement of the engines would result in a trade deficit situation with Canada. Congress only approved the purchase when it was assured that a US source would be found for the PT6T/T400 engines. As a result, the United States military services ordered 294 Bell 212s under the designation UH-1N, with deliveries commencing in 1970.
Unlike in the Canadian Forces, in US service, the UH-1N retained the official name "Iroquois" from the single–engine UH-1 variants, although US service personnel refer to the aircraft as a "Huey" or "Twin Huey".
The Bell 412 is a further development of the Bell 212, the major difference being the composite four-blade main rotor. The UH-1N has also been developed into the upgraded, four-blade UH-1Y.
Design
Whitney Canada PT6 & The UH-1N's main rotor is powered by a PT6T-3/T400 Turbo Twin Pac made up of two Pratt turboshaft engines that drive a single output shaft. They are capable of producing up to 1,342 kW (1,800 shp). Should one engine fail the remaining engine can deliver 671 kW (900 shp) for 30 minutes or 571 kW (765 shp) enabling the UH-1N to maintain cruise performance at maximum weight.
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) modified a large number of their UH-1Ns with a Stability Control Augmentation System (SCAS) which provides servo inputs to the rotor head to help stabilize the aircraft during flight. This modification removed the gyroscopic "Stabilization Bar" on top of the main rotor head, instead relying on the computer system for stability.
Operational history
Military service

From late 1970, the UH-1N re-equipped the USAF 20th Special Operations Squadron in Vietnam, replacing the single-engined UH-1F and UH-1P. Armed with Miniguns (or 40 mm grenade launchers) and rocket pods, and painted camouflage with no US markings and only a Green Hornet insignia, the UH-1N supported Special Forces reconnaissance missions from Cam Ranh Bay.
The United States Air Force employs UH-1Ns to fulfill its ICBM mission, providing a utility helicopter for transport between bases such as Minot AFB, Francis E. Warren AFB and Malmstrom AFB to missile launch sites in North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Colorado. The UH-1N is also used by the 36th Rescue Flight (36 RQF) at Fairchild AFB, WA for conducting Search-and-Rescue (SAR) and medical evacuation missions, as well as the 459th Airlift Squadron based at Yokota Air Base in Japan.
During the 1982 Falklands War, the Argentine Air Force deployed two Bell 212s to Goose Green grass airstrip from where they performed general support duties including the recovery of many downed pilots. By the end of the hostilities both aircraft were still intact but were dismantled by the Argentinians.
USMC UH-1Ns were used by the USMC during its 2003 invasion of Iraq. UH-1Ns provided reconnaissance, and communications support to Marine ground troops. They were also called upon to provide close air support during heavy fighting in Nasiriyah.
As of March 2013, the U.S. Air Force operates 62 UH-1N Hueys: 25 provide security at ICBM sites, 19 are stationed at Joint Base Andrews to evacuate Washington-based government officials in emergencies, and 18 are used for testing and training. Since most were purchased in 1969, the Air Force is seeking replacement of the Huey with the Common Vertical Lift Support Platform (CVLSP). Possible candidates include the UH-72 Lakota, the AW139, and the UH-1Y Venom. The Air Force has been pushing for the CVLSP since 2006 and the program is not currently being funded, although officials are continuing to pursue the effort.
In August 2013, the Air Force said they were close to finalizing a plan to sustain and modernize their UH-1Ns for the next six to ten years. The plan is to sustain the fleet, address flight and safety mandates, investigate modest improvements in capabilities, and reduce capability gaps. While the Huey is one of the oldest platforms in the service, keeping the fleet going is seen as having "minimal risk." Fleet-wide upgrades will include night vision compatible cockpit lighting, crash worthy seats for flight engineers, and installation of a helicopter terrain awareness warning system and traffic collision avoidance device. The Air Force has not decided whether or not to retire the Hueys at the end of the timetable, and is in the process of further acquiring ex-Marine Corps UH-1N models. The Marines are working out a strategy to transfer as many as 26 helicopters to the Air Force, which may add them to their active fleet or keep them in reserve.
The UH-1N has seen combat service in the Colombian armed conflict. On 16 October 2013, an UH-1N helicopter crashed in the northern La Guajira department. The zone of the crash is a hotbed of FARC rebel activity.
The U.S. Marine Corps planned to retire the UH-1N Iroquois by September 2014 after 43 years of service. HMLA-773 (Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773) was the last Marine squadron operating them, with their last deployment occurring in 2013 where two helicopters sailed on a Royal Netherlands Navy ship for an African Partnership Station deployment. Deliveries began to the Navy and Marine Corps in 1971 totaling 205 UH-1Ns and six VH-1N executive transports for Marine Helicopter Squadron One. The UH-1N was replaced by the upgraded UH-1Y Venom; ten are remanufactured N-model airframes, after which the Marines decided to procure new-built Y-model airframes. Five unarmed HH-1N versions remained in use by the Marines until they were also replaced by UH-1Ys and retired in 2015, the only HH-1Ns remaining from 44 that were converted from 38 UH-1Ns and the six VH-1Ns. The last combat deployment of the UH-1N by the Marines was to Afghanistan in 2010. The Marines retired the UH-1N during a "sundown ceremony" at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans on 28 August 2014.
In 2016 the USAF made a request for information for a replacement helicopter. 84 aircraft will be purchased

Initial production model, used by the USAF, USN, and USMC. Over the years the primary operators, the USMC has developed a number of upgrades for the aircraft including improved avionics, defenses, and a FLIR turret. The USAF planned to replace their UH-1Ns with the Common Vertical Lift Support Platform to support the service's ICBM activities, but is now examining a life extension for their current fleet.

The instructions are very sparse in information regarding the interior there are parts that are not shaded on the sprue map as not used parts, but are not shown in the instructions.
So i think i will fit these parts to add more detail.

The instructions tell you to fill these holes but i will leave these for now

Even though it may not be acurate i'm sure you agree with me that the latter looks better so that it what i'll be doing.

With that decided all the parts were primed in Ultimate black primer

For the cabin i used mr hobby H-338 light gray, seating and controls in mr hobby H-80 khaki green, the instrument panels buttons and switches i picked out in model color red, green and tamiya flat white and for the frame work on the seating i used model air metallic steel along with the foot pedals. Then finally for the seat belts i used tamiya XF-59 desert yellow

PART 2

I have done a little weathering on the cockpit
I have darkened down the instrument panels and the seat frames with mig ammo oilbrush starship filth including the seats and belts.
Then used a little Ultimate sand wash on the floor area which I will darken down at a later date.

The rotor assembly needed a little filler over an EPM using vajello plastic putty before priming and painting. While the filler dries i decided to do a little detail painting on the roof plate where the rotor fits using model color gunmetal grey.

Time to test fit the fuselage halves which seam to go together well hope that this is the case when the cockpit is added.
There is also 2 hole that need to be drilled out in the nose.

The 2 side windows need to be fitted before the 2 halves go together with the cockpit in, with careful gluing these are glued in with tamiya extra thin and when dry i masked them with tamiya tape ready for painting.

The 2 windows in the roof need to be tinted so for this i used mr hobby H-94 clear green.

Now time to install the cockpit and get the 2 halves together with some clamps and some tape to hold these in place while the glue dries.
The fit is a little out with the cockpit inside but with a little filling and sanding on these seams will soon sort this out.

I will fit the front and end plate when the cover is attached

While the filler dries it is time to deal with the seams on the fuselage the tail section is easily dealt with using the Ultimate sanding sponge and the buffer

This section needed a bit more sanding and i will use some sprue goo to fill this as there are panel lines here that will need to be rescribed

The sprue goo will be left for a good 24 hours before sanding and any rescribing is needed.
While I am waiting for this I am going to start on the figures

At first glance there seams to be quite a bit of clean up needed as I believe that the figures are a little older than the kit itself

For filling the joints on the figures i will use some tamiya filler with some tamiya extra thin for minimal clean up this i have used before to good effect but it was not my idea I have seen this used on youtube.

I have then glued in the roof windows again carefully using tamiya extra thin and fixed the roof in place which needed a few clamps to hold while the glue dried

For holding the figures for painting and priming I have drilled a small hole in the bottom of the boots so these can be held on a cocktail stick.

This is not supplied with the kit for some reason, my thinking is maybe the instructions are generic and supplied with different box art and decals.

I thought i'd get the rocket pods built next before addind the smaller parts to the top so i don't knock them off.
These are optional but i'm adding them to add detail, there are 2 of them 1 on each side.

There is some filling needed here for this i used plastic putty which will then be sanded smooth with the Ultimate sander once dry.

With the primer all dry it has been painted up with Tamiya XF-51 Khaki drab and when this is dry the detail painting will be done and a clear coat added ready for the decals

Part 7 the last part

The detail painting done using Mr hobby H-12 flat black and Model air steel then when dry it was clear coated with a 50-50 mix of X-22 and Mr hobby leveling thinner.

The decals are now on I had a few little issues with them they seamed to be on the thin side and fragile when laying them down

These are then primed in the Ultimate glossy black primer and will be detail painted with the steel

While this dries i am going to put a wash in the panel lines using Mig panel line wash 1622 ochre for sand como.
This will be be applied with a small brush on a closs coat which is just touched on the panel lines and the capillary action should move the wash along the lines.

I dont think you can see the wash from the pics but they are there just very faint

The rotors are now attached along with the wipers and the clear parts have been unmasked and the doors fitted in place.

So this part of the build is finished.

With not enough time to make a dio i just mocked something toether with just a piece of board then sprinkled over some play sand and placed the helicopter on there.
For placing the figures i just drilled some small holes in the base to fit the cocktail stubs the the figures were on when they were painted.
