Inflation??

I bought these Tamiya cutters from BNA World back in early September last year and they cost forty odd bucks ($46 I think but can't be sure, but know it was forty something). They are now $73.50, reduced from $83.95. They're also $74.99 from MetroHobbies.

Now I know prices go up, and Tamiya's other cutters have too, but this is crazy!

May be more to do with exchange rates, how's the Aussie dollar doing against the yen or the USD?

They're going from between $30-$35 CAD with free shipping on eBay. Experienced something similar with a kit recently. If I ordered from Germany it's about $140 CAD shipped. From a dealer in Canada is $107 shipped. Hong Kong...$63... shipped. I don't mind paying a little more to keep the business local but double the cost?! I better be getting a really good dinner first.

No nothing to do with exchange rates.
I recently inquired about getting Mr Hobby paints from Japan....should be cheaper you would think as they are a Japanese product. Yet it is not so because Sealmodels in China is the cheapest also the slowest to arrive.
At one time I could buy Chinese 1/35 kits from BNA cheaper than buying from Hong Kong direct.
Go figure !
