1/35 Sd.Kfz.166 Sturmpanzer IV Brummbar Late Production

Post by darrengreenwood »

Well I couldn't resist starting the kit after receiving it yesterday. And this build is to run concurrent with the Meng Tiger II.

You've all seen the box art:

Let's take a look in the box.

Lower hull, final drives and running gear and bogies.

More final drives (not for use), upper hull fittings and the ball mount for the howitzer. And vehicle commander figure.

Upper hull rear engine deck and lower hull front and rear plates.

More upper fixtures and fittings and armoured skirt, which is remarkably thin.

Casemate.

Zimmerit deals.

I have very few references for this vehicle, and there are the only ones I'm using.

And construction begins with the front and rear lower hull plates. Which is Stage 1 in the construction sequence.

And Stage 3 in the construction sequence is installing the front and rear hull plates, return rollers, bogies for the running gear, final drives for the sprocket (drive) wheels and spindles for the rear idler wheels.

Looking good, who did you have to kill to get this set? I didn't think it was out yet!

More done on the Sd.Kfz.166. What can I say typical Tamiya quality.

Its great being an insomniac you get so much done. I wasn't happy with the kit supplied aerial base so I added one form my scrap box. Everything else is whats in the kit. And the paint on the lower hull isn't really that bright in real life.

And painting in progress. And I forgot to paint the inside faces of the roadwheels oops. And another oops moment, due to a builder error early in the build process this one will be sans Zimmerit (the next one I have an order will feature full Zimmerit).
