Ideas for my next kit?

Hey everyone,
I'm new on here and I've just finished my first proper plastic kit. It's a spitfire, but now I'm stuck for what plastic kit I should do next.
I'd like to do a set of iconic aircraft over the last 100 or so years, but don't know many yet.
If anyone has any suggestions of iconic aircraft or could recommend a good brand or kit, that'd be great thanks. :)

A Bf 109E-4 maybe? It an iconic aircraft and Airfix do a great little kit:https://www.scalemates.com/kits/271978- ... 109e-4-e-1

For a more detailed version Eduard also do one :th: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/101004- ... -bf-109e-4

I think I'm fairly safe in saying almost all manufacturers do some version of the 109 :)

The P-51 Mustang certainly fits the bill as being iconic. I haven't done enough myself to really recommend a brand.

EDIT: Added scalemates link after seeing sheppsea's post.

Why not rotate from the beginning of world war 1 by building;
1* allied plane,
1* German plane
and then;
1* Allied Armour
1* German Armour
then move forward a year or two and start the process aga again, just an idea..

I would always recommend building a Tiger or a Panzer IV to any modeller but if you want iconic aircraft, I'd recommend doing a BF 109 or an ME 262. I don't have any specific models in mind but Tamiya's tend to be easy for the beginner.

I'd go with sheppsea's idea of the bf-109. The airfix 1/48 is a great kit plus there is Paul's old tutorial series on youtube to help you through all the stages. Highly recommend it.

Stuka is as iconic an aircraft as you could get.
Lancaster bomber
Not perhaps iconic, but from watching the '' The Black Sheep Sqaudron " on telly as a a kid... P-47 Corsair
Definitely the Japanese ...Zero

Thanks everyone, i'll definitely do the Mustang and ME 109, while i'm focusing on fighters, but eventually i'll do the Lancaster and Stuka for Bombers. :D
SprueSurgeon's idea is great and i'll probably do that, as well as American and Japanese as well :) (Thanks digger303, the Zero is a good idea)
As for the brands, my Spitfire was an Eduard kit, which was brilliant, although I might get one of your suggestions instead cause they're expensive :lol:

Are you interested in doing just the early planes i.e. World War 1 and 2? If not you could go more modern like the F-86, F-4 Phantom, so on and so forth.
