Ok so ken (mcloud) was struggling to get the decals for his world of tanks made up, so seeing as i had some of these make you own decal sets, i offered to help.

Ive never used them before, so have no idea what im doing or whether they will work, we will see.

So this is the product im using. I had a quick look online and can only find US vendors and it was approx $8 a pack


This was the file Ken sent me on my macbook.


Print preview shows the size approx 100x100mm, i then printed a test sheet on plain paper


My Printer, you print on the glossy side of the paper, orientating it as needed.



I printed two sets, one on white paper for the Union flag, and ism and WoT logos (you need the white paper for the white backgrounds


I also printed a set on clear decal film for kens logo.



Then following the instructions i airbushed some micro scale liquid decal film over both sheets, this protects the decal from smudging and allows easier application when wet.


So ill let it all dry and try a decal later tonight, fingers crossd itll work

which printer do you have ?
I've been looking at a Cannon to replace mine eventually, they seem to get the best reviews.

It's a canon3150 it was only £50 works brilliantly

Cool that's the one I've been looking at can get em on fleabay for about £30 ish.

How's the ink costs ?
One thing I remember form working in Comet is that Canon printers, although very good quality had the most expensive inks of all the main manufacturers.

Erm the ink is about £25 for both colour and black.

Anyway tried the decals, they work, the white backed is better than the clear. Also you can't touch the printed part at all or it wipes of so its gonna be interesting puttng them down, all i can try is adding more of the liquid decal fluid and see what that does

They look excellent mate, I guess once they're on a painted surface and varnished over they'll look spot on.

You may be able to buy the decal sheets from a local model shop, mine does.

Ive brush painted a thicker coat of the decal solution so we can see what its like.

Hopefully you can use them mate, ill try one tomorrow morning and pop them in the post for you

Cool, I'll be getting some of them when I've got a new printer sorted out.

Excellent Paul - Just so happens I'll need some soon too

Just had a butchers at the decals and the thicker brush painted coat of the decal liquid has dried really well, you can really see where it's dried so I'll report back in the morning to see how it goes.

BTW it wasn't worth videoing it being done as it isn't to difficult at all.

Av it, its worked very well with the brushed on decal liquid. I could go over it today with a cotton bud to fully remove the water with no damage to the decal.

BTW that decal i caught it with the knife at the bottom left it would have been perfect other than that.

Great stuff everyone! I'm looking to make some custom pinstripe decals for the civilian car build coming up and was doing research! Anyone have any further suggestions or experience on how to create custom pinstripe decals?
