Telford and families

Post by sheppsea »

Evening all,

I got some good(ish) news today and as a way to celebrate I was thinking about taking my wife and three year old on a trip for a few days and thought as Telford is only a couple of weeks away I may be able to arrange a trip to Shropshire :)

The whole point of the trip though would be to spent time with my family so they would be with me, so I wanted to check whether the show could be considered family friendly? I'm thinking of stuff like, whether there are masses of queues to get in and at the stalls etc, is there stuff around the venue that could keep children occupied if they get bored (like a playground), are there other children around or would it be a bit strange me bringing one?

I'm not hoping for an in depth report on what to expect - I just listed the above to give an idea on what I'm thinking about. I am just hoping that people who have been in previous years can say, yep, children are fine there, or have you gone completely mad?!

Thanks :th:

Congratulations on the good(ish) news :cheers2: and I love the idea of celebrating with the family at Scale Model World . I took my wife a few years back and she was “OK” with the day spending much of the day people watching near the seating area set aside for food and drink.

There are queues especially early (I go on Sat only) and is busy but it calms later in the day. There’s a model build for youngsters but I think your 3 yr old must be quite precocious to take advantage of it.

Overall can you take the family, of course, will they enjoy it, unless into modelling, probably not.

I’m truly sorry to share such negative news.

Good luck ...

Thanks - my wife would probably make the best of it to be honest, she does take an interest in things that interest me and I think she will attempt to enjoy herself, I am under no illusions that she would be skipping to the show though :)

My daughter is 50/50, she does like planes and we have built children's kit together, which she plays with; she also takes an interest in my models, but if she isn't in the mood when she wakes up that morning...
