First Hobby Show

With the live crew I heard them talking about Telford and I figured it was a big hobby show. I recently just yesterday attended my first modeler's event sponsored by my would be IPMS chapter, if I was a member. I had fun for the first three or so hours. It was my first experience with those shows and I see why most of you guys/gals have stashes. You could get a ton of kits less than the sticker price of retail or even at the shows if you are a great negotiator. Since I was a new attendee I was unaware of the cash only requirement by the vendors so I was unable to get any.

The models entered into contests were outstanding. I wish I could do my finished products like them. The fun part of the event was that it was at a commemorative air force, an aviation museum. Hypothetical situation, say I got a kit that is a model of one of the airplanes there, I could get pictures and have really good research photos for the kit.

Sounds like you had a good time mate. Looks like you were unlucky with the vendors, I've been to shows where they take cards (although not all vendors), maybe the size of the show dictated the issue?

So true on the bargains to be had. Its easy to really lose control at these events with the discounts on offer! Last show I attended I came away with 2 beautiful Dragon kits, 25 quid a pop, less than half the shop price and I didn't even haggle, just saw them on the vendor's stand and thought, I'm having them - happy days

My biggest regret is not taking pictures of the entries. A lot of them were older kits.
