Meng Leopard 2 A4

Post by Kevthemodeller »

I'm calling this done and here's my reveal. It isn't a war tank or from a war/conflict theatre, it's from 2nd Coy, 393 Panzer Bn GFAF, Bad Salzungen 2003 in the FRG during a training exercise. A few firsts for me during this build, my first Meng kit a little disappointed with the quality of the plastic and the amount of flash and the odd fit issue, it's a nice kit :th: Also my first use of a oils dot filter and I've discovered that some of Ammo Mig paint is crap :pistols: I even wrote to them and got, "you should do this/that" so it must be you sort of reply, waste of time needless to say Ammo will be phased out of my builds going forward. That said I've enjoyed every minute of the build and learned a shed load :th: Apology for some of the picture quality (still learning :th: ) all are taken in the spray booth with a phone.

Very cool. Looks like a big SOB too.

Love that you can still see the subtleties of the NATO camo through all the mud and dust. Filter work still shows through too.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Thanks mate I'm not 100% happy with the finish but I know where I went wrong so, it's all a plus :th:

Fantastic result mate - I know I said it in the build thread but I love the mud & dirt splatter effect you've achieved on this - really well done

Yes the paint was a big disappointment, but it's not all of them although there does seem to be issues with the primer as well. It's a real shame as most seem fine but as I've found out there's no way of knowing which colour will be effected until you start using it and those that are, suffer different levels. Some you can spray but have to fluff about with percentages of thinner/flow improver, some just won't spray no matter what you do, I've yet to try Mr Hobby levelling thinner which although is a lacquer thinner apparently works................ fingers crossed.

If it does at least I'll be able to use them up, but for me the relationship with Ammo Mig has ended, I'll get around to posting something about it all and the response I got from Ammo in the reference section when I get the time.

Thank you, Ammo has turned out to be a disappointment, but I'm just going to use them up and move to Tamiya and Vallejo.

it's their loss :th:
