Yes, I'm starting another build! The Apollo / Soyuz is going so well that I started this one. I had this kit and markings in mind when I voted for this to be one of the builds for 2017 so I'm glad I finally have a chance to work on it!
I don't know a thing about the Jaguar. I'm pretty sure the first time I saw one was during the first Gulf War and that was about it. But, when I saw the Jaguar color profile in the September 2013 Model Airplane International I thought "that is a pretty sharp plane - especially the two seater!"
I found the Italeri kit on sale and ordered new decals. I couldn't find the same as those I liked in the magazine, but these are close enough.

A bit about the Nigerian Jags:

The Jaguar jet has had the shortest service life in the Nigerian Air Force, thanks in no small part to the nature of the purchase contract and the international politics of arms transfer at that time.
An initial batch of 12 (twelve) single seat variants were supplied and later 6 (six) twin-seat versions which were used for pilot training in the United States were inducted into the NAF.
The Nigerian Air Force was denied the option of purchasing advanced weapons to enhance the deep strike capabilities of the Jaguar jets except for iron bombs of limited effectiveness. A request for in-flight refueling tankers was also turned down because they could be used to invade neighboring countries.
It was stipulated that the jets were to be used only for defensive purposes or they ran the risk of a withdrawal of technical support and spare parts and NAF could not resell/transfer the jets to a third party (another country) without approval of British Aerospace (now BAe Systems), UK Ministry of Defense and the House of Commons.
Subsequently, the technical support agreement expired and was not renewed and more importantly, the assembly line for the Jaguar jet was shut down. The only maintenance facility that can undertake rebuild/repair work is located in India.
Sometime in 2007 when these jets were put on display by the NAF for prospective buyers to inspect, it emerged that a Jaguar B TRAINER variant (NAF 703) had flown for only 150 hours 54 minutes since it was manufactured in December 1984. It had its 100 hours inspection on the 10th day of February, 1986. It suggests that the crated fleet of Jaguar jets is almost brand-new still.
So it is imperative that future airplane purchases should also be backed up by first class in-country maintenance facilities and support structures. When NAF offered the Jaguar for sale, BAe officials came for inspection/evaluation and among others conditions; they said that BAe will consider purchasing the planes at the purchase price or lower value than what Nigeria spent on the acquisition of the said jets.
As modern military technology is brought to bear on today’s battlefield, the theory,tactics and strategy of air combat maneuvering have impacted significantly on the composition and force structure of Air Forces around the world.
From the lessons learned through recent air wars from the Israeli-Syrian air war, Falklands War, Bosnia to Gulf War I & II, modern Air Combat Maneuvering (ACM) techniques indicate that Beyond Visual Range (BVR) engagement is the way to go.
Also deep strike operations became so expensive in terms of airplane and crew losses (especially during Gulf War I where Tornado jet accounted for a large number of air to ground losses) that the strategy of package strikes (Vietnam era tactics) was revalidated and today remains one of the current modes of offensive/defensive counter air operations."

Starting on the build. Not much to say here - just basic cockpit tub and fuselage. So far the fit is pretty good. The biggest issue was with the underside plate over the engines. Also, I'll have to re-scribe some of the panel lines along the fuselage seam. But so far I haven't mucked it up - so - fingers crossed! EDIT: By the way, the tape along the tail is to protect a little antenna bit that I've bent several times already.

Nice start on this one. I've been looking at picking up a Jaguar kit as I think it's a neat plane, but the problems the guys have had with the Kittyhawk kits has put me off so will be interested to see how this goes together for you.

Very bad fit on the speed brakes. As usual the doors are meant to be left open. I had to file off the inside enough for it to sit flat but the gaps left are still pretty bad.

I was gluing the small bits onto the underside then the fins under the engines. Why don't I have any photos? Because as I was checking the alignment of the fins I tapped the HUD against my work lamp! Plink. I heard it engage warp drive as it shot off to points unknown and that was that.
Put the plane away or beat it to death with something heavy.

I went out and shoveled my driveway. That worked off some steam. Now it's on to the parts bin to find some clear part I can re-purpose.

After cooling off a bit and sorting through some old sprues I found this one. It has some lenses and windows from an old build. The small, square window in the middle looks to be about the right size.

Started on the priming. I've gotten all the fuselage bits attached (except the pitot!) and have two coats of Badger primer down. Not much else to report except that I'm dreading the canopy masking - as usual.

I can't see finishing by the deadline but I'm still plugging away!

Gear bays and rear end metalic painted. Also started to get ahead of myself and put on some of the tan color. Will have to stop that until I'm ready to mask the camo pattern. No way I can do it free hand - it's not a soft edge.

Vallejo Metal Color - Pale Burnt Metal for the base then a bit of White Aluminum over that. Then I buffed it with a paper towel.

I used a mix of washi tape cut into thin strips (I'm out of Tamiya Tape) and that white Tamiya tape that follows curves.

I added Khaki to the Dark Yellow to get rid of what I thought of as a too yellow sand color.

Oh thats starting to look really nice now, very cool paints patterns on the tail fins. Yea the temp (a bit south of you) is in the -15F here in Mass, but yea...cold! Looks like it will be getting warmer this week tho.

Very slowly working on the camo so I don't mess it up too much! The lighter green is Model Master Enamel SAC Bomber Green. I couldn't find an equivalent color in acrylic without mixing and this was listed as a close match. Stinks a bit but sprays like a dream! It needs another coat to build up the color better.

I got to this point with only a few "let me work on this just a bit more until I muck it up and it needs more work". The painting is almost done (I have to paint the leading edges on the wings and horizontal tail black) - the aqua gloss is on - and now I wait for it to dry before final assembly, decaling and matt coat. Then I can see how my canopy masking went! There are a couple of things to fix though. I broke off the two tiny blade antenna just behind the canopy. Easy fix.

Painting done! Gloss on and decals started! Landing gear started! The generic decals (ejection seat warning and a few others) came from the kit. The rest are the aftermarket.

So, it's all done. Painting - decaling - touch ups - even the pitot tube is still attached. Done. Except for the two tiny antenna at the nose. I got one of them on. It gave me some trouble. The second one was much more clever. It engaged warp drive and whoosh - off to the Gamma Quadrant.
Plan B. Cool down and fix it tomorrow. Somehow.
