There are far too few B-52s get built.
I make a REALLY.good B-52 but mine is designed to fit in a vintage shaped champagne glass hic!

Excellent choice Daryl, and a great start.
Nothing wrong with that video buddy.
I'll be looking forward to watching this come together.
It's a really cool subject.

OK! after viewing everyone's build progress, I decided I'd better get started as well, so here is where I am now!
But first a little more history;
The B47 StratoJet is a two pilot, tandem seat bomber with a RIO (radar intercept operator). It was a long-range, six-engined, jet-powered strategic bomber designed to fly at high subsonic speeds and at high altitudes.
It's maiden flight was on Dec. 18, 1947 as the XB47, just a few months earlier the USAAF (U.S. Army Air Force) separated and became the U.S. Air Force.
The B47E entered service with the USAF in 1951 and was the mainstay for "SAC"; "Strategic Air Command" which was the USAF Major Command for Cold War command and control of land-based strategic bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles. The B47E's mission was to carry nuclear weapons to be used against the USSR. It never saw action (thank God!!!

) but remained in service as a bomber until 1965.
More info to come! But for now on to the build.
First, the cockpit and it is not detailed at all.
As you can see there are pin marks and no detailing.
I filled the pin holes with putty and I will try to shape it to simulate seat cushions. I will also try to add pilot restraints as well.
I'll be painting it as soon as I get the seats shaped.
The wings are nicely detailed which is a plus,

and went together well!
I also dry fitted the fuselage to check the fit and for any gaps, luckily there are no gaps that need to be filled, also clear coated the canopy.
That's it for now, I will be getting back with the progress shortly.

Nice to see one of these being built, always thought it looked a gracefully plane.
Keep at it and I'm sure you will have a great replica. Oh, I think this kit was originally produce sometime in the 1960's.

Hi Folks here is another update on my entry to the GB.
I haven't been doing to much on it due to the realities of life (the job)
More Info:
The later productions of the B47E were upgraded to larger internal tanks, fitted with external drop tanks and was also given an in-air refueling probe, to extend it's range so that it can make a round trip across the ocean ( the POND) to it's intended targets.
It had a range of 3,500 mi (5,600 km) and a service ceiling of 45,000 ft (13,700 m).
I started on the wheels, rear stabilizers, external drop tanks, and the inboard engine pylons.

B47E_in_flight with drop tanks.jpg
P1090236.JPG
As you can see there were fit issues and I had to do some filling and sanding on the fuel tanks, now I have to re-scribe the panel lines. The wheels are two piece and has seem lines which have to be sanded. The pylons and the stabilizers went together well very little sanding.
Well, reality is calling again but I will be posting more later. I am hoping to get the cockpit glued and painted, soon.
Thanks and May God Bless!!!
Daryl

More info on my build.
I found this photo on the web. It shows B47E in-flight, it was on loan to the RCAF.
b-47-2.png
"Ironically this bomber was acquired to facilitate the test of a fighter engine for the new Avro Arrow interceptor then under development. The B-47 became a flying test bed for Orenda's Iroquois engine testing in which the test engine was mounted in a nacelle on the rear fuselage and in doing so, it became the only seven-engine B-47. Besides adding this engine pylon and nacelle, the extensive structural modifications included double skinning the rear fuselage, strengthening bulkheads and adding bulkheads and longerons. The co-pilot's station was modified into a flight test engineer's station, test instrumentation was installed in the bomb bay and 8,000 lb (3,600 kg) of ballast was installed in the nose to counter the weight of the Iroquois engine. In subsequent test flights, the B-47 had its primary engines shut down and the aircraft was able to fly powered solely by the Iroquois.
With the termination of the Arrow / Iroquois program, the aircraft was returned to the United States."
If you look closely at the photo just under the tail section, you'll see part of the engine. (Info courtesy of "Canadian Wings.Com")
For our Canadian friends, sorry, my build will be based on a USAF/SAC version.
But if Norm (Schwein'e'Hund227) and Storm22TPT will allow me to join in on the "Tribute to Honour Our Heroes" Canadian GB, I'd like to build this version of the B-47E.
Thanks folks see you soon and May God Bless!!!

Now that's some nice background info.
It's one of the reasons I love the GBs on ISM, I learn new techniques AND some history.
Looking good.
