Panel lines with marker

Post by chops1sc »

Has anyone ever tried using a paint marker or even a sharpie to pre-shade panel lines on their aircraft? I was just gearing myself up for my up-coming F-14 build and I thought about this and how it would look vs. airbrushing.

It would work, haven't done it myself, but it would work.
Paint marker would be preferable IMHO just so comparable with your top layers of paint.

I have done aircraft in full black primer and the shadows are cool, others mottle the black with grey or white for even more variations under the paint

I haven't done it myself, but recently read an article about Sharpie's bleeding though the final paint job. A quick google search just now shows a bunch of photos of the bleed through. I would definitely lean to the paint markers, although the object is to not have sharp defined pre-shading. Just my .02 cents
