Oh yea, I need this reference as well
Dan was using something that was a combined flux with solder bits in it on a live show...perfect for PE. I didn't catch what it was

I use a paste flux and cut up silver solder bits that I add to it...a bit Neanderthal but it works
AS you are UK I don't think we would have the same products

I bought some flux past online and it really was crap. The flux just wouldn't do it's job. So there must be some better than others.

I read that as well on the eBay reviews of the sellers. It was saying it sent ‘out of date’ and ‘expired’
How the hell is flux and solder paste expiring????
I wil just continue to make my own, just have to figure out how to cut the silver solder finer

Yes it was   :cheers2:

Have you looked at the self life date on the bottom of the tub?

It states it last a year that means it's not storeable after a year or in other words the product it's saleable, mine arrived yesterday it's got a date of 24. 02. 2017 in other words 23 days remaining :wtf:

Now this doesn't mean it's not going to work but it does mean it deteriorated to a point where it should be stored/sold which means it's effectiveness will be sufficiently degraded that very soon it my not work as it's meant too.

Just checked mine, manufactured Dec 17, shelf life 1 year. So I’m ok for now. Although I don’t suppose it will matter until I break the seal and let air in. A ‘very’ quick google suggests it’s more relevant to professional circuit board use, I reckon it’ll be fine for our use. Guess we’ll find out in a year?! Or 23 days in Kevs case, lol!

I have about 6 different rolls of solder on the bench, 3 types of flux, one roll was purchased in the early 50's so yea Scott... old stuff!!

Not to be silly and why I have not jumped in with any comments here. I have not used any of this for modeling so why comment and throw you guys off. What I can contribute tho is this.

Have a nice day! :thumb2:

Hilarious shirt  Ahh soldering....
I have a melt mark in my cutting matt and have burnt the old bingers a couple times...mostly on hot parts.
It is more fun to use one of the little butane torches...those suckers burn up stuff REAL GOOD!!!
Note to self, buy fire extinguishers...no, really DO buy some fire extinguishers
