Mansell's 1993 Indy 500 Ride

This is the build i started that then made me think hey one build or two, surely it ins't too much extra work....
This is one i have had in and out of the box for a few false starts. With the Xmas holidays i thought lets have a crack at it. I always liked these kits and it was a shame they were done as a snap kit, i think if they had of been a glue kit there would have been more traction and maybe we would of had more than the two Lola's?

So this is where i go to last time, sanded the seamlines and painting went well till i had done the black and noticed my white had a small mark in it, i sanded this down and then thought to help the declas i will just shoot a little TS13 onto the body, well i then ended up with the lovely melted paint finish, and this was with a dust coat.

So then a bath in the 99% alcohol and prime again and this is what i am back to.

Paint went on nicely this time..

So decals are my next item.
Managed to get some decals done between being Mr Mum and keeping order in the house. It is nice when you get the kids to bed and there is that quiet time just for you....lol
Decals are Museum Collection which i got with the kit, i have never used them before and found them very easy to work with and i do like that there was basically no carrier film so you do not have to trim tight around the decals.

I have had a chance to finally finish up the decals and now i am working on the suspension arms and engine.

I have done a clear coat over this now and used for the first time the Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear UV Cut and i have to say it goes on very nicely. I have always used 2K but recently had an issue with it, i think due to its age and a friend said to try this...
I will post pics shortly once i pull them out of the drying box.

Well i went ahead and used the Mr Super Clear UV Cut after seeing Jeff's Leyton House first hand. I have to say great stuff. I used it from the can as i am over my airbrush at present after a couple of mishaps, i did as per what everyone is saying a couple of mist coats and building up to heavy at the end, i think i took around 4 hours till i was done as i left this for 45 minutes at times before the next go, we are also having some sensational HOT weather right now which is happy days for painting.
I will now decide if i will rub this back or just leave it and finish it up and move onto the next one.

I'm going to use Mr Hobby Super Clear UV Cut for the first time very soon. Not from a can though airbrush, I've been trying to find out what ratio of thinner to use.

It is the old Tamiya Lola Snap Tite kit from around 94 i think....

Being true to myself i can never rush a build....hahaha But i would like to say i have finally put the finishes to this one. Decals were great to use and would use, these being Museum Collection, paint was just Tamiya TS, and the clear was Mr Hobby. Basic build with everything closed up, just added some belts and of course the speedway version rather then the road course.

Quite honestly, I think your paint looks better than the actual car photos!
Really excellent job with the black/white contrast and then the decals just totally pop

That Mr Hobby GX100 Super Clear III and the UV cut version is amazing. I used the non UV on the GSX-R viewtopic.php?f=46&t=24304 the pictures really don't do it justice, I didn't/haven't buffed or polished it. I say that not as a testament to my skill but rather the lack of it and how good a finish I got first go, ok it's not as hard but it's far easier to use, I'd say its as good as 2pac without all the mixing issues and time penalties. I've had people look at my GSX-R that use 2pac and they can't believe it not 2pac

It's really thick so you don't need much, thin using both Mr Hobby thinner and levelling thinner in the ratios they suggest.
