Revell 1/144 Boeing 747-400 "Lufthansa"

So while my Spitfire is curing, I'm starting on a new project. :thumb2:

Can't believe this is the first thread in the civil aircraft part of the forum.

Anyways, here is some pictures right after opening the box:

Image

A nice decal sheet. Many small decals, will surely take a while before getting all these down on the model.

Image

And last a shot of the two fuselage parts cut away from the sprue, cleaned from flash and attachment point. It is probably the biggest model I've done to date.

Image

This will be a fun project, but will require quite an amount of cleanup since there are huge flakes of flash on some of the parts. Tomorrow I will start the build itself.

Major flash on the kit parts. :bash: Cleanup will take its time on this one and a huge seam where the fuselage goes together.

Tamiya Extra Thin welded the part together nicely, but sanding and filling will be necessary.

Hokus Pocus, seam be gone!.

I'm getting quite good at sanding. ;)

Looks good so far.. :) The 747 is probably the only airliner I can guarantee to recognize.. just don't ask me about the sub types.. :)

That sure is gonna be large but then again, the 747 is one of the largest planes in the world. Good luck with that bird

You don't need to worry about the sub types. There are only two. 747-200 and the 747-400. The latter is the newer. My dad flies them for British Airways.

And long may he continue to do so.. they are magnificent birds! Quite beautiful.. have an air of grace about them that the more modern airliners do not..

..but that's enough waffle! Thanks for the info, learnt something new and that's never a bad thing.. :)

This will be a sweet build imo. Nice job so far. :th:

At the risk of being "that guy" there are 5 variants.
747-SP, -400, VC25, E-4 the new -8.
Sorry to hijack and nitpick

Nice progress so far! Just like racing cars, the sink or swim moment for civilian vessels always seem to be the decaling. So im really looking forward to see how you tackle that one (the decaling sheet looked quite daunting, imo :? ).

P.S. Always nice to see a fellow swede building away! Ha det gott! D.S.

Wow, I'm impressed with the sanding. Great work so far.
My dad flies them for British Airways.
Does he...couple of BA 747-400 pilots are mates of mine...couldn't be could it?

Mind you looking at the size of their -400 fleet the chances are slim.
