Revell Phantom F4-C 1/48

Hi all started on this the other day, kit is a vintage Revell with raised panel lines and more sink marks than there were bomb craters on the Somme.
First 2 days spent doing nothing but rectifying all the visible defects, loads of sprue goo used, assembled and painted the cockpit about the only parts that did'nt require any filling, I am utilising some left over bits from my Eduard Good Morning Da Nang Phantom using all the weapons load out, the front undercarriage leg the exhaust cans and the Brassin wheels, so hopefully will be a passable build of this iconic aircraft.

Looking good so far Gary. What type of defects did you have to sort?

Hi Spook ,the defects were numerous mate loads of flash under the rear stabilisers Revell in their infinite wisdom had decided to mould in the fact that the kit was moulded in China in 1979, and there were 4 ejector pin or similar holes on each stabiliser that were deep enough to lose a golf ball in, short shot moulding defects on the Sparrow missiles, and the fitment tabs for the rear stabilisers were moulded in such a way that there was a gap nearly 2mm wide. Having said all that it was like a step back in time to when I was modelling in my twenties and out with the filler and files and spares to replace other bits still enjoying it though.

Youve done a great job pal with that many issues. Ive got the uk phantom to build so im kind of expecting the same issues.
