Hello everyone

My name is Burney and I am retired from the US military. I loved being up close and personal with many of the models folks build. I built some models as a young boy but nothing worth putting in a magazine. I am working on building some models and figures from my military days like Army vehicles, Stryker vehicles and military aircraft like medical helicopters. I have enjoyed learning how to make the models (methods and techniques) look like what I actually spent many days and nights in. I am eager to learn and probably become a model junkie.

I would appreciate any advice on how to make the models come to life and transport folks back to that period of time.

Elijah/Burney aka coffeebeangeek as I roast coffee beans as a hobby as well.

I get the coffee beans while they are green and then roast them until the 2nd crack (sounds popcorn kernel popping). It's the only way to drink coffee as its fresh and not stale and taste burnt. I need to roast some beans today because if I don't my wife won't have coffee to drink in the morning.

I don't throw away the coffee grounds as they go to the garden area and around the fruit trees/bushes.

I might try and post some photos of the freshly roasted beans later.

Hello and welcome from someone who's from a country where until not too long ago everybody roasted their own beans.
Today it's much easier to buy it pre-roasted but roasting and (hand) grinding the coffee was part of normal morning routine!
My coffee grinder is from the early 1700's and it still works! Just dump a handful of coffee beans in the top, crank the handle and the ground coffee ends up in a small drawer in the bottom, but I prefer an electrical one today to be honest

Edit: This is the type, only mine is older and more ornate.



Sweden, where I'm from, is a real coffee nation (last statistics I saw we were on 2:nd place in the world for drinking the most coffee) and we only drink dark roasted coffee, but not just any coffee - we're drinking very good coffee! We buy an awful lot of high quality beans so we can afford to be picky about quality.
Powdered coffee is virtually unheard of here and it wouldn't even be served to your worst enemy...
