Academy 1/48 SU-27 Flanker B and friends
Posted: Mon Mar 26, 2018 12:44 am
Hi guys
This will be the buildthread of my Academy SU-27 Flanker and his 2 smaller friends ,the MiG-29 Fulcrum by Academy and the SU-25 Frogfoot by Smer
All 3 are in 1/48 wich is my prefered scale for planes allthough i do like them in 1/35 aswell but there isn't that much in that scale and they can get rather expensive
Anyway i want to combine these 3 builds because of some similarities between them
1 i will be building them all as planes from the Ukranian airforce
2 they will all get a digital camo
3 all of them get a lot of after market upgrades
4 i am building them side by side
So that is my reason to make 1 big thread instead of 3 smaller ones
Today i will be showing the kits and the after market i collected for them
SU-27 Flanker
The first one will be the Flanker as that is one of my favorite planes

So that is the kit from Academy
It is a aging kit as it has been around for quite a while
And allthough newer and probably better kits of this plane are availble like the Hobby Boss kit this one is much cheaper and i think that if you are going to use a lot of after market anyway it is a good basekit for such a build
Speaking of after market here is what i will be using

20180301_185853 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
A Wolfpack resin cockpit with a ejectionseat

20180301_185902 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Aires exhausts to replace they very thick and non detailed kitparts

20180301_185925 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Eduard wheels and cholks

20180301_185947 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Master models brass pitot tube
Quickboost replacement nose cone
Quickboost resin antenna set

20180301_185958 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Eduard's Big Ed set for this kit
It contains a
Interior pe set
Exterior pe set
Weapons/missle pe set
Masks for the canopy

20180301_190007 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Foxbot vinyl masks for the digital camo

20180301_190925 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Begemoth decals for the larger decals
Allthough this set contains over 20 different options for various airforces (so yes i will be building more Flankers in the future)

20180301_190930 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Begemoth stencil data decals
Again for various nations/camo schemes as they come in several colors

20180301_190937 by Mark Verploeg - Flickr2BBcode LITE
Akah/Akan paints for this camoscheme
Not really after market but it saves me some time trying to find the colors from paintbrands i normally use
And i think that is enough for now
Next time i will show the MiG-29 and all the stuff i used to build that one
Take care
Cheers
