Hiya.

First of all, as I am still new here, thanks for the welcome, and the wealth of information all in one place is first class.

My only complaint, (complaint is too strong a word but I can't think of a better one right now), and it's more of an issue with photobucket, is the numerous threads with images replaced by photobuckets 3rd party hosting warning.

It's a complete pain in the arris  I know it's not ISM's fault/issue/responsibility etc but is there nothing that can be done to prevent this in the future?

Sorry to whine lol

Thanks :D

I'm in agreement with you there - it is a pain when looking for decent reference material or if you want to check how somebody approached a particular issue or kit, and all you can find it worthless threads. (Particularly for older or rarer kits)

Unfortunately it is each poster's responsibility to fix their own threads. When Photobucket :pistols: stopped allowing 3rd party hosting there were many of us who moved all our images to other hosting sites and then re-linked all of our past threads. Understandably there were many who either didn't have the time to go back and do all that, or simply aren't active forum users anymore.

It is a shame that forums like this have lost so much of their reference value, but the more people post new build threads - the more it will build up again!

Reconstituting old threads, particularly when they're picture heavy, is a massive amount of work. I'd rather be building and adding to new threads to be honest. I also prefer the interaction I get with other members on current threads, they become part of the build as you banter back and forth.

I'm gutted some of my earlier builds bit the Photobucket bullet but there's only so much time in the day.

As for reference material and build tips, why not ask in the Modelling Chat section? If a question came along on a kit I had built or a tip I know I would happily post about it. For those who lost massive WIPs to PB, why not post a gallery of the finished kit, far quicker than rebuilding the thread and any questions that arise can be covered and discussed. That's what I've done for quite a few of mine.

AND Photobucket are a bunch of complete tools. :pistols:

Yeh sure I get it would probably be time consuming to do.

I've never liked PB either. Ive always used my own server or Onedrive as I am using now.

The joys of running a forum, I remember it well lol

Cant you install a gallery onto the software and store them on the forum website ?

I started with an ultrabb software for which I had a gallery. I've since switched to zenforo software , again with it's own gallery. I actively encourage my members to save to the gallery rather than photo bucket.

It's an amazing forum but the missing images spoil it a bit.

As a newbie the images would help no end.

Just a thought , no criticism meant.

Again, great forum.
