Spitfire Book - Recommendations

Post by AlexBB »

Hiya,
Can anyone please recommend a good book on Spitfires?

I am looking for history on all the different Mk's and colour pics as a reference guide... There are a few on Amazon but always best to get another modellers opinions before shelling out cash on something :th:

The SAM publications books are pretty comprehensive although not sure how easy they are to get hold of nowadays
Colour profiles, detail photos and colour drawings, history, and a section on kits and extras.

Worth it if you can find them.

I just saw on Valiant Wings website that they are releasing a Spitfire book in their Airframe and Miniature series - it is only part one, covering Merlin variant, but if their other books are anything to go by I would highly recommend this book :th:

Ooooo thanks for the heads up Sheppsea :D :th: :th:

I will keep an eye out for when that is released..

I have recently bought 4 books on Spitfire history, see a recent post of mine in the Postman thread -

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=118&start=13850#p309370

So currently reading through these but so far they are all a bit limited on the level of technical information, I have heard the Haynes book is good but they did not have any of those for sale in The Works..
