#24 captain spook reporting for duty sir. But as I’m late to the show I guess I’m on the spud bash

Right so I’m going to build this little jem from Revell

I’m going to build it as a 53 sqn bird as she appeared in the Assentions during the black buck missions.

So time for the plastic it’s horrid very thick and chunky with sink holes flash and epms where you don’t need them but it’s an 80s rebox from matchbox so I won’t say anymore.








Oh I forgot to say it’s 98% raised panel lines so do I rescribe it all or live with it as I hate rescribing.

I forgot about the decals. Not too shabby for Revell

I have the Vulcan covered, you have the Victor. Is there a Valiant amongst us?

Interesting how the sprues on this one look precisely like the Vulcan kit, but that was originally an Airfix tooling.

A little bit about the victor
The Handley Page Victor was a British jet-powered strategic bomber, developed and produced by the Handley Page Aircraft Company, which served during the Cold War. It was the third and final of the V-bombers operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF), the other two being the Avro Vulcan and the Vickers Valiant. The Victor had been developed to perform as part of the United Kingdom’s airborne nuclear deterrent. In 1968, the type was retired from the nuclear mission following the discovery of fatigue cracks, which had been exacerbated by the RAF's adoption of a low-altitude flight profile to avoid interception.
A number of Victors had received modifications to undertake the strategic reconnaissance role, employing a combination of radar, cameras, and other sensors. As the nuclear deterrence mission was given to the Royal Navy's submarine-launched Polaris missiles in 1969, a large V-bomber fleet was deemed surplus to requirements. Consequently, many of the surviving Victors were converted into aerial refuelling tankers. During the Falklands War, Victor tankers were notably used in the airborne logistics operation to repeatedly refuel Vulcan bombers on their way to and from the Black Buck raids.

The Victor was the last of the V-bombers to be retired, the final aircraft being removed from service on 15 October 1993.

So this is how thick the sprues are

Problem no 1. That is a solid piece of sprue attached to the seat.

That’s everything cleaned up ready to prime

It would be great to get all 3 of the v bombers built

Plastic warping /sink holes and a lip even Mick jagger can be proud of

All sorted nothing a sander,filler and sprue goo couldn’t sort,just need to let the goo set.
These are the easy issues

Good stuff, yep let that goo set up fully a couple days at least.... or it is mushy and damages the surrounding areas easily

This is the tail cone with the air brakes in place,now the headaches start

I know this kit well.
A joy once built but a struggle.

Cockpit and pilots all primed in Ultimate grey. I’m not going to town with this as you can’t see any of it once it’s buttoned up.

Cleaned up the main fuselage. Seems to go together quite well. It’s about the only part that has done so far

Some good stuff going on in here, keep at it

So I’ve managed goo up the tail cone and I’ll attack it with a sander in the next day or so.

Scary stuff. Rescribing panel lines is a skill I am yet to acquire!

This will be my first time as well it’s the one thing I hate about this hobby

The pilots are done a mix of model air, tamiya and sharpie pens not too bad as I don’t do pilots.They look a lot darker in the picture. Cockpit decals sorted as well

I have this kit and it is started but is now on the shelf of doom.
Doing a great job on this filler queen.
