Global Scale Modeller

Well I thought I'd start small for my first GB here so opting for the Aluminum overcast I've been threatening to build for over a year now. It's on the bottom of one of my stash piles at the moment as it is one of the large boxes in my collection, I did these pictures some time ago but have not started the kit and I will post a new picture of it unbuilt before I commence.

It’s the old boxing which my other half got me online from Oxfam of all places last year.



Instructions are of typical Monogram and if memory serves me right quote Humbrol colours(?)



So onto the plastic, the Hawk is there for a scale comparison.









I will most likely get to this at the end of the month after I’ve cleared some other builds off the bench.

Not sure at the moment, heard good things about Alcad but never used it, my F86D was brush painted various shades of Hu11 but I think this will be too large for that finish.

Will you be using the hairy stick on it or are you kitted out for airbrushing?
Maybe a spray can would be better if not?

If you have an airbrush them alclad is the way to go

Bugger me! Even at 1/72 she's huge.

Pulled it out the stash last night, and to prove its unstarted:



But it is now, put some Olive green on the internals last night but only half done before I started to fall asleep , get back on task tonight. It's a second hand kit and noticed a couple of broken bits which are no longer in the box, but nothing I should be able to resolve.

Initial painting started in the cockpit, some ways to go though.


Internals painted, cleared and a bit wash applied.


A novel arrangement for the spinners but it seems to work well.



These sit inside the engine housing which will enable the plane to be painted without the props being in place.



A quick dry fit does not reveal any major fit issues but going to have to visit storage methinks.

Good golly that is huge, that picture really highlights the sudden development in bombers after the war

OMG! I am now building that Lancaster, and after doing Me-109, I thought it was BIG one, but now... Lancaster fits on one wing

Very sorry peeps, my other half moving house in ate into my spare time until just before Xmas so this and some other projects have not progressed as I wanted them too.

The big bird is still being worked on and will post progress on the site but I'm afraid, barring the modelling pixies working on it while I'm asleep, it is not going to be finished by the 14th.

Best of luck to other members finishing their models, I've enjoyed watching your progress and look forward to seeing the results in the gallery.

Impressive wingspan on that monster.

I guess I'll have to build mine some day! I'll have t move to a bigger work table though.
