#13&1/3 Mark's Revell 1/144 B-2 Spirit stealth bomber

Hi guys
Welcome to entry number 4 (yes this will be the last one,4 is enough participation for me

)
This time it will be Revell's B-2 Spirit aka the Stealth bomber in 1/144
The Modelcollect kit looked cool but that is a bit big and costs quite a lot more then this one
Allthough the budget wasn't my main reason of getting this kit
The reason i wanted this one is that years ago when i was about 7 or 8 and started modelling this was the first kit i bought
I actually let my dad build it for me as i didn't know what i was doing and i thought i could chop off a finger with the hobby knife (a well estimated guess as i was a bit clumpsy at times

)
So this will be my trip down memory lane
And this is the kit

And the decals
So not a very complicated kit but then again it is a older kit (1991 or 93) and it is in a small scale
But never the less it should be a fun build
So i expect to have some progres on it very soon
Take care and i will see you next time
Cheers
Mark

Thank you Scott
But like i mentionned in the first post
This is a fairly easy build
The Nighthawk will require a bit more work then this one
The hardest part here is to get the seam on the wings out

Another one Mark and you work full time too. Now I’m impressed.

Yes i do work full time
But i had a lot of over time (i think it is called) so now i should have 1 or 2 days each week where i work only a couple of hours
So that gives a bit more modelling time
And i try to do a little bit of modelling each day

Hi guys
Time for a build update
Unlike what i have heared about this kit i had some good fun putting it together
It is a bit simple , it has a low parts count and not that much detail going on but it is a skill level 3 kit by Revell's standard so basicly it is also for the modellers who haven't build that many kits yet
That doesn't mean more experienced modellers can't have fun with it though

Work starts with the interior
Wich isn't much but these parts need to be painted before i can put it together

Once the tub was painted the decal was added
20180611_012222 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
I added a bit of color to the seats
But in the end it won't be very visible

The other parts

I couldn't get the glass to fit at first
So i trimmed some pieces of the part to make it fit
20180611_014214 by

Then the tub was glued in place
And some weight was added
It is a roll of tape filled with nails to get some weight
I glued it down with some ca glue and added a piece of tape to hold it in place while the glue is setting

It was going a bit fast indeed
But this isn't a very challenging kit if you are used to 300+parts and using tons of pe on a build
Not that i do all the time but this one is pretty easy to build

Blimey Mark you really are churning out your own fleet aren't you!
Awesome build quality as always and looking forward to seeing what you do with the black paintwork again.

Thanks Neil
I haven't fully decided on the steps of the paintwork yet
But i think i will do a bit of pre shading using a grey primer base that i mixed with One shot primers (black and white in ewuall parts) then some lighter grey on the centres of the panels and black on the edges
So it should turn a very dark grey instead of a actuall black but to be honest and all black plane is a new one for me

Hi guys
So time for a short update on the painting stages
20180612_011203 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
I started out with a home made mix of one shot primer
20180615_011804 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
Then some shading
20180615_024912 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
And to finish it a highly thinned coat of black
Well several layers actually but i wanted the pre shading to show through
20180620_002539 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
Then i added some dark iron to the exhaust area
I will be adding some smoke (Tamiya) later on to make it look less shiny and more used
20180620_002545 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
And the lower half was painted
Not much to do here but still it is something
After this i gloss coated it with Aqua gloss and tomorrow i will be adding the decals and seal those in to prepare it for a little bit of a wash later on
Thanks for stopping by and having a look
Take care
Mark

That thing is otherworldly looking enough without giving it a prehistoric Raptor crew
At least they have longer arms than a t-Rex so should be able to fly her

It's going great so far! So strange to see it next to the larger scale Nighthawk!

You are right it does look weird
But to be honest the Nighthawk is way bigger then i thought it would be
It easily sizes up with a MiG-29 while i was thinking it would be more like a MiG-21 or maybe just a bit smaller then a F-16

Love the way you've managed to get subtle tonal variations on the black Mark - really impressive work on this and the F-117 as well

Hi guys
Time for a final update on this build
As some may have seen i finished this build along with the F-117 last week
But after painting there isn't that much to do on a plane like this
So here it goes
20180622_104814 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
Once it was gloss coated i added the decals
Some sadly have some silvering even though i used quite a lot of micro sol
Most go on the top with only 1 star and bars decal for the lower half of the plane
20180627_113620 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
I used a neutral (grey) wash but the effect is kind of lost on the black
It does show a little in the wheel wells
After the wash the wheels where added aswell
20180627_113627 by
Mark Verploeg -
Flickr2BBcode LITE
And the liquid mask was removed from the clear parts
And that is about all i have for this one
I will be posting some proper reveal pics in the reveal section to really finish this build and build thread
Thanks for stopping by
Take care
Mark
