Bayonetta

Thanks to Lee for understanding that I could not show theunopened box as I had tried to make a video and it went wrong. This is going to be my entry and the figurine is called Bayonetta and is the main character in a video game of the same name. Yes I do like video games and currently have Batman Arkham city loaded on the XBox and have just got Grand Theft Auto V.

The figurine is a 1/6 resin kit and as you will see from the photos theres a s**t load of cleaning up to do.

This is what the finished model should look like.





No plans just a parts list.



All the parts were seperately wrapped in bubble wrap





The person who ground away the extra bits of resin from yhe parts did a crap job as details have been removed here and there and wont be able to be replaced, hopefully it wont be to noticable under paint. On this piece some of the hair detail has been ground flat.

Fit isn't the greatest, although should just need some dremel work.





The small pieces. The shapeless lump below is supposed to be a magic charm attached to a chain but is in fact just a shapeless lump of resin. There are 4 of these, 3 of which the charm can be cleaned up but not the chain. Will get some replacements from some costume jewellry. The bottom photo is generally how rough the small parts are.





There is a lot of cleaning up to do. thank god this is a long build. It may be a bridge to far to get this finished in time, we will see. I am going to allow 8 weeks for the clean up and i will see were I am then and decide if there is a chance of getting it done. Just to make it more intereting this is my first resin kit and figure model.

Looks an ambitious build, and should paint up lovely The only thing I would say is make sure you use a dust mask during the clean-up

Good luck w the cleanup, always the worst part of these resin kits, at least there is some good detial in there that should really pop at the end.

Just a reasonably quick update of progress to date. Sorry about some of the out of focus parts, but the camera seems to be having trouble with auto focussing, don't know what the problem is yet and as the camera is new to me its taking time to get to know it. Also during the video you will see that I had a senior moment when I forgot the name of the product I was going to use to pot some lens into her glasses, Kystal clear is what I was trying to say. I will take some stills which should be clearer. All I can say about this model is thank god its a long build.

She's a fantastic choice... The sculpting is top drawer.
When she's done she'll be a centre piece I think.

A couple of photos showing progress to date and the overall level of rough casting and poor fit of parts. This choice has been an example of choosing a cool looking finished model and not doing to much checking of the quality of this companies models. O well learning heaps and getting there slowly.

had to do a lot of sanding and shaping to get the straps to pop out and not blend into the foot.




Had to put detail back into her hair as it had been ground flat. The lump by her ear is actually the end of her glasses and should be there. Her back is now all smooth and ready to paint. Damn photos are showing places I missed.




Gaps the size of canyons. This was as good as I could get as the underneath fits well now and I have superglued the leg on. I will fill the gap with superglue over the next couple of days. The other leg was the same and is now gap free. Her glasses are almost ready. They were full of resin with big lumps of resin around the outside frame.




Those ribbons of resin are supposed to be the ribbons you can see in the small photo that come from the top of her hair and stream out the back. I want to use them as on the top side there are symbols finely engraved into then and should be there. Started to clean the amulets. Lots of fiddly work ahead. Before and after shots of her upper arms.





The guns hammers and trigger guards. What I had to start with at the top and what I am happy with at the bottom. The hammer second from the bottom was the worst and awful but I will put it in the gun on her foot in the closed position and it will look ok. The best 2 guns will be the ones I will use for her hands. The bottom gun is almost finished. I need to go around each gun and rescribe the fine detail with a P Cutter. The handles all needed to be built up as they had been ground flat and needed to be reshaped. As you can see the barrels holes are off centre and the lumps inside is supposed to be bullits. I am going to fill them with superglue and redrill them. I will do one first to see how that works out.
I do a bit on each part as apposed to finishing one off at a time as I get fed up doing fiddly bits all the time. Progress is good so I am happy with this approach. I will post again in 2 weeks hopefully with more progress.

oh man bad luck, what a mess of a cast - looks like your on top of it and have the skills needed to turn it into a great figure.
