when it rains, it pours!

hi fellas,

with the b-52 finished, im going to try and squeeze another entry into this sig.

airfix's new b-25.



new style destructions.



colour paint guide, two sided.



i like planes that dont have loads of stencils,



two decal options.



compared to the 1/100 b-52, this thing is tiny! a good few sprues though, but not too many to overwhelm you.



ill leave the clear parts bagged up for now, avoid my clumsiness where ever possible!



oob build, other than a paint mask for the clear parts, it would be a 'mare trying to make this look good, masking by hand.



as pilots have been included in this kit, (make your damn minds up Airfix!) im considering an in flight display. but i seem to have misplaced my last clear acrylic rod, so we shall see

Cheers Scott, got internet back for a few days, so should get the b-52 updated tomorrow! Cracking on with this for now.

hi fellas!

a quick update on this before tinterweb turns into a pumpkin at midnight.

made a start, and finished, the cockpit. some great detail for the scale, and fits like a tamiya kit!! well impressed so far.



with the cockpit and bomb bay side walls fitted, i gave it a spray with revell aqua colour olive green. its the closest thing i have to the prescribed colour. these are great for brush painting, but they spray nice too if thoroughly thinned with Ultimate thinner.



quick brush down with alclad aqua gloss, then Ultimate dark dirt wash to bring out the details. random knobs and buttons picked out to add interest.



then i used ca to stick some lead shot in the nose, although ive since commited myself to an inflight display, so i didnt really need to.



all buttoned up, few spots of vallejo filler, disposed of with Ultimate sanders. still very much impressed with this kit so far, fingers crossed for the rest of it!



got the engines assembled, then primed in Ultimate black, base coat of vallejo metal colour exhaust, then dry brushed with a siver metal colour, and finally a dark dirt wash by Ultimate. ready to be fitted.



so thats it for now. hoping for some more internet access next week, and ive booked the week off to enjoy some of this lovely weather weve been having. so i should be able to make some progress on this.

I am finding that the latest Airfix kits are far suppassing most other manufactures with their internal detail.

This looks to be a great little kit and coming together very well

hi fellas!

more internet available, so heres the latest update on this.

got the engines fitted, and applied the glazing mask from Eduard, what a godsend!



then gave it a good going over with finest Ultimate black primer.



for the lowers, i used revell aqua color medium grey, and uppers are tamiya buff. both thinned with Ultimate thinner.



then i added the decals, no probs here, just used micro sol. once done i gave it a blast of alclad aqua gloss to seal them in and in prep for some weathering.



started with a pin wash with humbrol enamel dark brown wash. this is quite thick out of the bottle, so i took a little bit and thinned it with white spirit. i then added a few more layers to the control surfaces, to darken them a bit more.



then i had a bit of a brain fart and forgot to take more progress pics!

hopefully you can see what i did in this pic.
after giving it a matt coat, i used Ultimate dark dirt, some craft store burnt umber oil, and craft store pastels to add darker and lighter shades, and to create fuel/oil stains. then sealed it all in with another matt coat, humbrol rattle can btw



for the base, i printed off a ww2 map of the pacific region, and glued that onto a wooden block i had previously painted in Ultimate black primer. once dried, i drilled a 5mm hole to accept the clear acrylic rod. the rod had already been fixed (bodged) into place in the bomb bay, with squadron green stuff. its pretty solid stuff!

finally, i drilled holes in a couple of bombs, and threaded stretched clear sprue through them. this was then glued in place with ca.

so im all done, just in time. more pics in the reveal section.
