So, I am waiting for paint and detail up parts for my Aoshima BMW M3 for the Touring Car Group build. I have many other things I could be getting on with in terms of started projects. However, after having seen the Spitfire Documentary at the cinema last Tuesday and had a BBMF Spit fly over my village on Saturday afternoon, I need to build a Spitfire.

I know its a cliche but Spitfires are more than a plane and I love them. I have to build one regularly or I get the shakes so I pulled this pretty weekend edition out the stash. I am going to build her OOB except for some Eduard PE seatbelts. I also have some Mr Hobby paints I want to try out and can use this as a testbed. Its a lovely post-war scheme of a Czech clipped wing Mk. IXe.

I have not taken a picture of all the sprue because I am sure you have all seen them before and I forgot and started the build last night. Just put together some of the cockpit detail.

Love these Eduard spits they are a pure pleasure to build.

I really like spits as well. So much so that I watched the Battle of Britain for the countless time just this last weekend. I will enjoy your build.

Primed the interior bit with Ultimate Black primer, and ready for some Mr Colour C364 Aircraft Grey Green. Then some detail painting and install some generic Eduard PE belts.

So a very productive evening on the bench. Sprayed the interior with Mr Colour C364 and then detailed painted with Vallejo model colour Black. Put a black Tamiya panel line wash down and removed most of it straight away to give a little wear and lift the detail. While I was spraying I did the prop too, in Mr Color C33 Black, Tamiya XF-3 Yellow and C316 Mr Color White. All were thinned with MLT.

Really enjoyed using the Lacquer paints for the first time. They look great and spray like a dream . Bullet proof within 10 minutes. Just need to get a spray booth as the mask on for a long time because of the fumes left in the shed is not great.

Cracking on now started to put together the cockpit. Painted on the detail colours with Vallejo model coulee and did a light dry brush with Vallejo Model Air Silver. Did it very lightly as it can be too much sometimes. Used a cocktail stick to paint the small detail as I can be a bit clumsy with a brush sometimes. Put Some Micro Krystal Klear in the days to give them a glass look.

Finally I used some Eduard PE seatbelts from a generic early war British set. Not entirely accurate as this is a post war Czech plane but I am not a rivet counter so this does not matter. Just put them in for the interest. Will probably give them a Tamiya Brown Panel Line wash as they look a little too new. Also, need to add the little Compass decal them I can start buttoning her up and moving on to the rest of the build. I must say I love doing cockpits they are my favourite part of a build.

Ok so had a lot on back to work and two young kids so opportunities at the bench have been few and far between. So when I did get some time tonight I did some bits on the Spitfire. Completed the tail section, wings and glued the infamously annoying two piece engine cover together.
