Here are some pix of the finally finished Foxbat. Its my third build after 10 years away from modelling.



Lessons Learnt
1] Do not rush madly ahead gluing bits on;
2] Pre plan what needs masking and painting before assembly. Masking the vertical stabilisers, horizontal stabilisers and the underside stabilisers once they were already on the fuselage WAS a serious pain;
3]Let paint dry thoroughly before removing the masks; and
4] Tricycle undercarriage usually equals weighting the nose BEFORE joining the fuselage together. Fortunately the Foxbat wasn't a tailsitter [unlike the Berkut I built prior to this.

I brush painted this as I havent built up the confidence for the airbrush just yet.

You've achieved a great finish there. I had to re-read your comment about not using an airbrush as I would have never known otherwise. You've achieved a very nice smooth finish with the old hairy stick.

As for rushing to get bits done, I can fully sympathise as I'm exactly the same. At the start of each build, I promise myself that I'm going to take it slow and it isn't a race, but I always fall foul of the old impatience syndrome!

Thank you for your kind comments Alex. I used thin paint in multiple layers to reduce the brushstrokes. I do however need to get up to speed on the airbrush.

Lovely work! Glad to see brush painting go so well. Did you paint it with acrylics or enamels?
