Global Scale Modeller

So this is my latest kit im about to get stuck into. Giving my mosquito a break to try something new, never really built Armour before but looking forward to this one. hopefully i can get it built up to a decent Standard. seen a few Armour kits i like the look of so if enjoy this one i will most likely buy a few more to go with my aircraft kits

I'm interested to see how this one builds up, I'm hoping to get one for myself at some point.

Yeah this is my first dragon kit. So going to take it nice and slow and see if I can learn some new techniques

So better late then never but here are some progress pictures of my build. Sorry for long gaps in between but dont get much time to build anymore but the time i do have i have managed to get up to this stage , finding the dragon kit to be a bit of a challenge for me but i am coping just making sure i check the instructions which i have found a little confusing however i am impressed so far on the detail and the fit of this kit. there are some fit issues but nothing major






The hull also makes a good place to store small parts

Know what you mean about those instructions, they can be pretty confusing and they frequently get the part wrong, which doesn't help. Some of the parts can be eye-wateringly small, but it's worth sticking with it as the finished article s always stunning in its detail.

Yeah I'm enjoying the challenge of this build want to finish it and not let it beat me be first time working with track links too which will be good to try

Finally managed to get a bit of time to myself and been cracking out this kit as you can see i have started putting the top of the hull on so it kinda looks like a tank now. hopefully i will get the main hull done in a few days and then can work on the turret and the tracks, then the fun part... Painting

I will advise anyone who buys this kit there may be a few fit issues however they are fairly small and a little bit of filler will solve the issue fine but overall a great kit i would recommend.

Following the instructions i assemble most of the upper hull sections separate just make things a little easier, do have a few more pieces towards the front to bolt on.





Dry fitted together the kit starts to become a tank . the fit is very good only some small filling will be needed which is always a good thing

More progress made on this enjoyable kit. Have got the main hull all together now, minus the road wheels and tools ect they will be added on later.t he fit is very good on this and no filler was needed which i was very happy with.




After letting everything dry i gave the kit a coat of Ultimate grey primer, love this stuff.



Even with just the Ultimate primer this kit looks great, i keep saying it but i am really enjoying my building again. challenging kits seem to get my mojo going.

Update

So its been a week since i last posted, have made some serious progress on this tank, she when together great with very few issues. now i have got her painted up, as the tank is one colour it was a pretty easy job with my Apex airbrush.

As you can see she is painted in Mig Ammo Dunkelgrau, mixed with Ultimate thinner this sprayed very smooth at about 25psi for me through the apex.

30 minuets of painting later and the colour looks fantastic ( sorry about the light making it hard to see)but is very smooth, will let this dry now and will begin to tackle the magic tracks and the accessories that will complete this baby

Update

So did a bit of paint touch up because i added a little piece to the front of the tank as i had a issue with the magic tracks so instead of binning them i have decided to use them as spare tracks for the tank, just thought it would make the model a little bit more interesting


Might be hard to see but there is now a little bar running along the front of the tank. this is going to act as my holder for the Spare tracks, pretty easy to do, a spare piece that wasn't needed and cut out the middle to make it the right size, glue it together and presto . really happy how it turned out.


here she is in all her glory. minus the tracks but i have got them on order so should be here soon. going to get her ready for decaling now

Yeah I was surprised that I haven't used any filler anywhere, think that is the first time on any kit I've made

So got her all decaled now. Was only 4 to do just given it a clear coat and will let that dry then can start weathering tomorrow

Almost the End

So this is the weathering done for The dragon Panzer III. not much has been done just a basic Ultimate light dirt wash. its not much but i think it looks good enough, From when i first started i knew i would not do too much work on this kit because i wanted to use it as a build that could get me into armour again, its nice to have a change the tamiya mossie was starting to get a bit stale but now im inching to get back into it so that will be the next finish the mossie. Good news is their is not much left to do just the tracks and the accessories, should be done in a week

She certainly looks dusty. Did the set not come with any photo-etched screens?

Yeah they did but they fell off somewhere few other things fell off too... Well I knocked them off but it's a good kit non the less

So time to end this build thread. I will post the finished tank up soon in the gallery section (everything in storage atm while I update my work area) . I will say this was a nice build for me and gave me a lot of experience that I will use in future models.
