Hobbyboss 1/35 King Tiger (Porsche) turret

Post by darrengreenwood »

Although the turret was designed for the Porsche VK 45.02. The turret was actually built by Krupp. And as the hull's for the VK.45.02 were never built, the turret's had been. So when Henschel won the competition to build the King Tiger aka as the Tiger II, the Krupp designed for the Porsche design were utilised.

This isn't a bad kit, it goes together well, the Zimmerit sheets performed wonderfully. Although that around the curved front of the turret gave me some trouble. But this should be hidden under paint.

Anyway some pictures of the build at the moment.

The tank I'll be finishing this as is Tank 324 of s.Pz.Abt.503 on the Normandy front in 1944, before Operation Overlord.

Thank you James.

I've started to apply the outlining for the camouflage scheme.

Some progress on the Tiger II. The reason for the missing fender is because of a photo of an actual Tiger II.

The actual photo I used for some inspiration.
