Thanks mate still someway to go getting all the fit issues sorted, once done I can fit the exterior PE and then prime, paint, decal and weather. The latter steps will be much faster but the fit issues on this kit are really poor in places, perhaps I'm being too much of a perfectionist, but I don't think I'll be building another Revell kit.

It’s not so much the manufacturer, rather the age of the kit. Still, you’ve done wonders with it my friend. Awesome work

She's got top colour

I didn't want fresh out of the factory or better than new restored, I wanted in service battle worn I think I got it. Having researched looking at countless WW2 colour pictures the paint was far from perfect, worn almost mottled.

The light area under the waist gunners window is reflection from the paper towel

There's still loads to do, shading and weathering etc but the base is down

Added some highlights, touched up here and there, removed the masking, finished off the undercarriage spaces, flap areas and added the last of the PE to the cockpit

Flap areas and undercarriage spaces

Highlights will fade more once I start weathering......hopefully

Masking removed

She's about ready for a varnish and decals

Beautiful work Kev - the variations you've achieved on the green & grey are really eye-catching.

Works been a bit demanding last few weeks not had much time but managed to get the props and wheels done

So this afternoon with a few hours spare it's on the the wash

Just as I've got the wings covered the phone goes...... 10mins later............... and trying to remove the wash

Yep the enamel wash has eaten through the varnish

the wash was on there too long and/or there's areas where the varnish was thin, I don't really know
Sadly that's it for this build it's in the cupboard, may be another day I'll get it out and sort it
This whole build has not really been an enjoyable experience, it's been fighting me the whole way, work issues etc etc

This will be my first bin it or non completion kit since I was a teenager.
Anyway thanks for following and it's now on with my WW1 Sig build

Oh mate - that's so tough
Is there no way you could turn it to "extreme" weathering or is it really beyond salvage?
Really feel for you after all the work you've put into this.

Lemonade from lemons
It would make and awesome war beaten and abused plane
I was just scrolling the photos and thought that was what you were doing on purpose, exposing parts of aluminum as though she had been shot up.
Take a break from her, but re-think doing a veteran damaged war bird...would be very interesting

It's a real disappointment and yes I have had the same thoughts,

it is repairable and I will do it but not right now. The build was really becoming a chore just wanted it finished, so I'll leave it for now let the enamel dry off and I'll get stuck into it later.
I'm really looking forward to the my WW1 build which hopefully I'll start tomorrow.

That was my plan or at least exposed aluminium etc but as I'd mentioned the build was turning into a chore and sapping my enthusiasm, I was just going to weather and leave it at that. I will now go for the more weathered look just not right now.
