This week I've finished the Revell 1:72 Red Arrow Hawk. It was built for my 6 year old daughter who wanted a Red Arrow to be built and demanded it must be Red! It was hand painted with Revell paint and finished vallejo gloss varnish.

This is Tamiya's rebox of the 1/35 Italeri M-24 Chaffee kit with a couple of added extras such as a metal barrel, new parts for the M2 machine gun and a couple of sprues of baggage from their allied vehicle accessory set. I started on this kit a couple of months ago as a mojo-builder after the masochism of the Valom bomber and it turned into a bit of a test mule and became my first experiment using oils for some of the weathering effects. It's an ok kit but definitely felt more Italeri than Tamiya in terms of fit & quality with plenty of tidying up and ejector marks to deal with along the way.

The basic colour was Vallejo ModelAir Olive Drab, lightened with white for fading. The stowage has been brush painted with various mixes of khakis, greens & browns from Vallejo modelcolour. The oils used were a selection from Abteilung 502 along with pigments from MIG. Final coat was a light airbrushing of AK UltraMatte.

I just finished the classic 1/35 Tamiya Willys MB kit. I added the Black Dog resin pack to provide some extra detail. Painted with Tamiya paints and Model Color for hand-painting the resin stowage items.

Tonight’s offering, ladies and gentlemen, is the ancient Airfix Boeing 737-200 dresses up in Oldmodels decals to represent one of New Zealand’s National Airways Corporation 737s in the early 1970s. It has a Tamiya rattle-can white primer base, Tamiya rattle can Pure White and TS-83 as its main colours with a formulation of Boeing Grey made for me by my local automotive paint shop and various shades of Xtreme Metal on the engine nacels. No pre-shading, no sealing, no chipping, no washes and none of that other post-production stuff. Simple fun, really!

Eduard 1/48 focker D.VII from the dawn patrol boxing
All the wing decals are now on thank god. They went down well but that was quite a job. All the red paint is on and started applying some fading. Next up is some masking and smoke for the darkened areas of wing

Takom 1/16 Renault FT-17

Not a huge amount done this week, just more fiddling and clean up with the FT-17, still it's not back in it's box, which is a promising sign.

PS I do not endorse any form of advertising on my pictures and simply won't allow it.

Hey Guys!

Working on with my AMT 1/25 1971 Dodge Charger R/T for Pauls Muscle Car Build.

Started on the interior and painted the seats with Ultimate Gloss Black and Ultimate Black Primers. Really pleased with the result :)

This week Mathew I have mainly been playing with my 1.72 Airfix LCVP landing craft.

Working on the weathering to make it look abandoned for a further diorama. Have a great weekend all.

Takom V2 and Hanomag Tractor... 1/72 scale.

Other than waiting for a matt coat to dry on the rocket...this is pretty much done.

I will be sitting it on a diorama but need to pick up a few bits, to get the features that I have in mind. There may be a few tweaks to the Weathering once it's sat on scenery, just to tie it in. The rocket will stay clean, as they wouldn't be around for long enough to get messed up much. I may just add a very light layer of dust.

Really enjoyed this build. Other than a bit of fettling to get the tractor body onto the chassis, it's been very straightforward.

Primed with Ultimate Black Primer and base coated with Tamiya XF-63 German Grey. The grey was then lightened with some lighter greys and blues, to add some paint fading and highlights to the body.
Weathering done with assorted MiG and AK products along with Abteilung 502 oils.

May have overweathered it in some folks' eyes but I got the look that I wanted.
