Guys, as I have been doing this hobby now for at least 5-6 years now, probably around 10-12 hours a week for that period of time, sometimes longer (over a week), I have developed pain in my right shoulder and neck when I'm modelling, its been like this now for a couple of months now, I have lowered the work station desk to see if that helps (it did for a month) but came back. Im really struggling to do anymore than half and hour a day now before the pain sets in.
I also have had a week of doing nothing, it eased off considerably, but within a few sittings it came back again....
I went to the doctors and he said, just get your wife to massage it...she has, but to no avail.
Really starting to worry now, that I will have to give this up for a long time... I DON'T WANT TOO!!!!
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so what did you do to cure it.

I'm not a doctor and have no idea what your physical condition is or if you have damaged your neck or shoulder but stretching carefully usually makes things better.

It may be a long shot, but a standing desk might help you from bending your neck and back too often.

Not to scaremonger but go to the doctor's and get a physio referral asap. It's probably not serious but it will help. I had a similar RSI problem using my pc and phone, I had inflamed tendons in my shoulder. It took 6 months of physio and a further year before it was ok again. Then I fell off my mountain bike recently and ruined it all!
Get it checked because rest may not help it! But it will be fixable. Obviously get your set up sorted to minimise rsi

I have a similar complaint and it can get bad sitting in front of the computer playing games. So I tend not to do that any more. However my chiropractor said because I have a back injury and my back isn't straight my head is too far forward. So the neck muscles have to try to compensate for the misalignment and the head being quiet heavy causes muscle strain and head aches. Regular stretching does help me and a visit to the chiro.

Thanks guys for the responses so far , I have DDD as well (Degenerative Disc Disease) which is probably not helping matters either....Chiro appt required by the sound of it.... thanks again for the responses.

Getting my back ‘decompressed’ at chiro over last few weeks.
Will try it for a month or so, seems to be helping with my tweaked lumbar disk
