This will be my second submission for the GB,
Conan the Barbarian.
I've been a Conan fan ever since I saw Arnold grunting his way through the first movie.
I saw this figure and I was sold.

Pegaso Models have really managed to capture the likeness of Arnie on this figure haven't they? Well, it looks like they have from the box art.

Maybe you should rename him as "Coen The Barbarian"

There's a challenge for your next YouTube video Coen, you have to do the entire thing in a Rastafarian accent.

Thanks guys.
Sorry about the late replys this weekend.
My buddy Dave the Carpenter is here helping me build my deck, and he's brought his whole family. So things aren't exactly quiet around here.
I haven't had anytime to sit in front of the computer at all.

Rastefarian?
I doubt that I could pull that off, I'm terrible with accents.
I have a hard enough time hiding my own. haha.
Coen the Barbarian. hahahahahaa!!!!
More like Coen the Ogre... maybe I'll do that for a fourth entry later. haha.
Conan here I hope to start in a couple of weeks if all goes as planned.

Terry Pratchett mentioned Cohen the Barbarian in a few of his books "Hence the term 'wholesale destruction'"

Mr. Conan is assembled and primed!
A few tiny touch ups and he's all set to get his skin on.
Best yet... NO TARTAN!!!

Conan... in layers....at least 6.
6 layers of colour it took to build up his skin tone. First the base coat of Model Master Dark Skin,
That I sprayed on with the airbrush right on top of the primer.
Then a a few wicked thin coats of Model Master Skin Shadow.
Then a couple of the Model Master Highlights.
Then I mixed two layers of Vallejo Flat skin tone and burnt cad Red one thicker than the other and built that up until it all looked smooth and even.

I'll finish it off with a light thin wash of burnt umber oils to give him a bit of a tan, then I'll gloss coat him and add another wash of umber and black for the shadows. I will try to nail his high points with a the same final colour of the Vallejo skin and Cad Red. A bit of gentle thin dry brushing should do it.

I should have him finished buy the due date... I didn't think that would happen.
The Geisha won't unfortunately. I'll start building her tomorrow though. I know that I'll be long from finishing her by the time the deadline rolls around.

Last of my efforts for the weekend.
I've done four washes of really thin burnt umber oils to give him a tan, waited a couple of hours for that to dry.
Then I hit all the high spots on his skin with the same colour that I used to make his skin but with a drop of white.
The combination of the white and the under layer of the umber really made the shadows come alive... I don't know why.
Then I dry brushed him with about 5 layers of wicked thinned Vallejo Air Hemp. There was almost no paint on the brush, the effect that it gave blew my mind. I'd never seen it before. I was really happy with it. I decided then that I wasn't going to bugger with it any more. I'd already spent the entire day on his skin.
Then I turned to the rest of him. I touched up all the details with overspray, added some definition to a few bits with some dry brushing with Vallejo tan.
I painted his hair codpiece and boot fur then dry brushed with white, then with hemp.
Then I painted the ground work. All over burnt umber acrylic from Model Master, then I picked out the details like the floor and the dead dude with vallejo.

I need to finish his "Wheel of Pain" amulet, figure out what to do about his eyes, and give the groundwork a wash of dark earth and light dirt/sand mix.
Then I'll call him el'completo!
