Just what the hell have you been doing??

Post by alextheblue »

Now, I don't suppose for one moment that this is a question that has been in the forefront of your mind. Whatever I've been up to is of little or no consequence to yourself, but do you know what....I'm going to tell you anyway!

Since the bomber SiG finished (is it me, or does that seem ages ago!), I've not really posted a whole lot on the forum. I've dipped in with the odd comment here and there, and I promise, they won't be so odd in future. But, I have still been slathering glue and paint on the old plastic.

I finished the Dragon King Tiger, but forgot to take pics before it got boxed and consigned to the attic. And I also finished the Revell 1/32 Spitfire.

Image

Next to get finished was a 1/72 Italeri Harrier. Can't say I enjoyed building this a whole heap and hence why it's so shiny. I didn't bother weathering it all. Once all the ordinance was on, I called it a day and put it on the finished shelf (re., the attic!).

Image

Also got the Meng 1/35 D9R Dozer finished. Loved building this kit. Typical Meng, went together like a dream and it gave me a chance to get some proper weathering down.

Image

The base was actually stolen from a Bradley diorama that I'm currently building - just need to finish the figures.

Image

And the last thing to get "finished" was Revell's 1/48 Panavia Tornado IDS. Really struggled with this kit and nothing seemed to go together right. The decals are supposed to be cartograph, but I had a 'mare with them. I had to alter so much of this kit in order to get it together, I think I would have been better whittling the whole thing out of a tree branch!

Image

As you can see, there's bits missing, only half the decals are on, bits are "posed" wrong and the whole thing is just not, well, right! Don't care though! I'm counting this one as finished as well.

Next up, I have a Dragon Wirbelwind that needs finishing (still deciding on whether to but a whitewash camo on it) and then it's on to my new kit. Academy's 1/48 F-4B Sundowners. I've really only got into building planes this year, but after building Airfix's 1/72 Phantom for the Cold War SiG, I fell in love with this plane.

Thanks for taking a look! :th:

I've never built anything sci-fi and I don't have a suitable kit, but they are just mere details that can be sorted. Count me in! :th:

Some cracking builds there mate :th:

Like Scott I've been looking at the Meng dozer for a good while now. I share your pain with Revell, they wasn't good as a teenager and most are still not good now. Good to see you back mate :th:

Awesome, just post a note into the thread in my signature and we will make you a Space Cadet
There is quite a discussion about different topics for SciFi for this year.
Gundam robot subjects count, Marvel figures too and those weird Maschinen Krieger thingies too.
I am going to do a Hornithopter bee kinda thing.
It doesn’t have to be a movie spaceship, so the options open up quite widely. Look forward to having you around :thumb2:

Thanks Kev! :th:

The Meng dozer is definitely worth a go. It's one box seriously stuffed with huge amounts of plastic. Kit goes together just as you would expect from Meng, plus it gives you the option to go to town with the weathering. No right or wrong way with these as they were used and abused by all accounts.

Nice going Alex, and I really like the dozer. That Phantom will be really nice too. Was the Revell a Pro-Modeler or just a regular kit? I've built some Pro-Modeler stuff and it fit decent and with nice details,... just wondering.

Thanks Ben. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the Phantom!

The Tornado is a standard Revell kit. Not a great fit, but not bad for the money.

The Dozer is great but I also love the tonal variations you've got on the Bradley too - really well done! :cheers2:

Thanks Neil! :th:

The Bradley's not quite finished, still got a couple of bits to add to the interior and hence why there's a gaping hole between the upper hull and the tub! :eeek:
