I didn't have anything suitable in the stash, so after a bit of web searching I've settled on a Canadian built Valentine. This will be built as a training tank at Camp Borden, Ontario, 1942

That's a fantastic choice Pete.
I think that I even know the kit that you're talking about... nice as well.
I was planning on picking it up myself, so I'll enjoy watching it go together.
I love the valentine.

If it's the Miniart one, then yep we are talking about the same kit.
I have family in Canada and my uncle, now a Canadian, but from Liverpool originally, served in the Merchant Navy during the War. He's on a veteran's video taking about his service, I'll have to see if I can locate the link to that. It would be nice to do a suitable ship kit in recognition of their part in WWII, but I think I'd be better playing safe with armour for now.

That's the kit. I've used a miniart valentine for one of my Desert Rats dioramas, their good kits.
I haven't built the Canadian one yet.
I'd love to see that vid of your Uncle Pete. If you found it, it would be a great way to start off your build thread.

As a Canadian I feel obliged to participate... that's the only reason I'm doing it...
My LHS doesn't have any Canadian models I want to do... time to go to ebay, unless anyone knows a Canadian company or one that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for delivery

...and the hunt continues!

Hey Storm,
Would you mind posting that list from your 2nd video on the forum here... you'd really be helping a guy out

Something tells me I'm going to make this difficult for myself and source decals separate from the model...
Thanks!

Just stopped by my LHS and had a good chat with the awesome people who work there (Maritime Hobby). I found a decal sheet online for a Canadian T-33...and immediately bought it... then ordered the 1/48 Academy T-33, they said I should have it in a about a week. Apparently this Academy T-33A kit, is the only one that is still made that is Canadian compatible
This version of CT-133 was painted to represent VU-32’s “Mako Shark” paint scheme worn by one of the Squadron’s CT-133s in 1992
Will this be acceptable?
If so, this is gonna be awesome!!

Dudes... You have no idea how much that makes my day.
I'm still surprised that anyone watches any of them.
To know that someone got back into the hobby because of one, or stays in the hobby because of one... well that's why I make them.
It's all about the giving back to the hobby for me... you guys just justified it.
So thank you.

Seriously, your vids are actually inspiration for me to keep going and one of the reasons I joined ISM in the first place, both yours and Hamilkar Barkas' vids are what really got me re-passioned in this amazing hobby of ours and how I heard about ISM - please, keep up the incredible work, both vids and talented modelling skills!
Cheers Coen!!

So, if we want to join in, where would we post on the forum?
Canada is very close to where I live so I would really like to do this.
I'd like to either do Trumpeter's 1/350 HMS Eskimo converted to HMCS Huron or Haida
or
I'd just build Trumpeter's 1/700 HMCS Huron.

Some will post here! As many here don't produce

I guess we will have to ask the ISM Admins to Create a HOHGB Tread!
While it is running and until we are done!
you take care

hey guys! Mikey told me about this group build and I would love to join. I too have an Academy T-33 kit. Bought the extras also. True details cockpit, wheels and the scale accessories LG. I'm going to do the late version 434 bluenose sqn markings from leading edge. I have everything ready to go, it'll be the next build after my tamiya corsair.
Cheers!

I finally have my HOHCGB entry on its way. I bartered to get it so thats cool. I will be building a CF-101 Voodoo. There is one near me for the time being as it is being disassembled to be moved to a museum in Ontario. It was the last Voodoo to ever fly Reg#101006. I have some photos of the exterior but am hoping to make a trip to see it before its gone and hopefully get some photos of the cockpit. This will be a great GB and I thank you for the privilege of entering.
Heres a link if interested

In any case, just ordered one from fleabay, hopefully it comes in before the 11th... but if not, at least I have my decals

Sorry to hear about your difficulties at obtaining your model!
You are not the only one!
Storm and Myself had to resort to trading some kits in order to get something in time for the GB!
As both of our kits were not showing up!
But we will be there on Nov. 11th.
