Flatting new paint.

Hi All
I have a quick question do any of you guys flat back new paint before laying down decals. I ask as I've just sprayed my first car kit in a number of years (started others but binned off before getting to the body stage). I am building Tamiya's Subaru Impreza WRC 99 and spraying it in Zero paints.
I got a lovely depth of colour but have managed to get some bits in the finish so wondered can I flat it back before I decal it.
Sorry if this is a school boy question but coming from armour modelling were you can weather a bit of imperfection in the paint I would sooner ask rather than just plough straight in.
Cheers in advance Steven
