Mr Paint question

Have any of you used Mr. Paint, and are they a lacquer or acrylic? I've been to their website and they say that they are an acrylic lacquer. Not sure which one it is. If its an acrylic, why not say acrylics with a lacquer like finish. Or if its a lacquer, lacquer with the ease of acrylic cleanup.

I have purchased some. I have 6 bottle here that I extend to try. I also have the Mr Color thinner and Mr Color Leveling thinner. Both of those are Laquor based. They sure do stink. I have used the MR Color finishing primer and this is Laquor based. So my best guess and assumption is Laquor. The Tamiya bottles say Acrylic the Mr Color do not. Best I can do for you.

Definitely lacquer

MR.PAINT is acrylic colour designated for spray with airbrush. The colour is diluted, prepared for immediate using. In case of need, is recommended to dilute colour with Mr. Leveling Thinner. With Mr. Leveling Thinner you can also clean your airbrush after use. For cleaning tools/kits is recommended Mr. Tool Cleaner or another cleaner designated for cleaning airbrush after acrylic colours using.

Just for the reason of stupid incorrect grammar and imposing on someone else’s name already present in the hobby, I won’t use those paints

The incorrect grammar was intentional 9 ( yep ), trying to put a little accent or inflection in there...in order to be friendly ....i gotta work on that...

Any paint called acrylic lacquer is just regular lacquer. You may as well totally ignore the "acrylic" word.

Anything that needs thinning with Mr leveling thinner is not a true acrylic in my opinion either, including Tamiya acrylic paint which is in my opinion the worst of both worlds - not good for you when it needs thinning with lacquer thinner, and also soft when dry.

BTW I use this thinner below to thin/clean all my lacquer paints and it is called acrylic lacquer thinner. I also use Mr Leveling thinner on parts that need to be super shiny.

From a health and safety perspective you are probably better off just using lacquer paints and use a respirator and spray booth, than say using a so called "acrylic" paint and not using any protection.

An example of a true acrylic may be Vallejo.

To answer this one, it’s a lacquer and acrylic..... I know it sounds crazy but it has a lacquer
Carrier with acrylic pigment.

I love these paint as they are colour matched much like “zero” paints are. I use them on my aircraft
Builds and are very easy to spray no extra thinning required and clean up is super easy. However
These are fairly toxic smelly paints so be very careful. Use a good mask/filter and lots of ventilation.

They are not a particular hot paint either and will go over other acrylic paints without any issues
(Test first though) and dry to a semi gloss finish that is easy to weather over the top of.

Yes, great point Mike ...doesn’t matter what you type of paint you vaporize if it is going straight into your lungs it isn’t good for you. Yes some are worse than others, but still.
Makes one think about e-cigarettes and vapes too
