well folks I chose my next model to build. I really liked this model and found this on the net.

I have to thank @Twokidsnosleep for the help on repairing the crack. I got the evergreen strips today in the mail and I got some Tamiya Extra Thin from the LHS and will add some the excess parts off the car to the bottle and make some Spru glue like the link Scott sent. Once this is done I will be able to start the build.
This one is a lot more complicated than the last couple. 35 steps vs the 18 of my last 2

Nice! Shame about the crack, looks like it should fix up nicely with a bit of work, will be even more satisfying when you finish it then.

Nice kit, will be watching this one!! I wish Tamiya would do a GT3 version. . .

Gary30: Thank you! I do so hope so especially with the crack. I have all the stuff @Twokidsnosleep recommended I get so I hope to get on the repair starting next week.

barryf1fan: Thanks. A GT3 kit would be really nice. Did you know that Tamiya is rereleasing the Mazda 767B kit? Coming out in July. I have a notify on that one at a Store here in the US.

Scott: Thanks to you I should be Abel to give it a go and have it hold up! But starting 6/1. I will put it on hold to start the other build

Oh no i was looking at this as a possible model to purchase for a later build. So do you think this was done during the manufacture (a build fault) or during delivery?

colink. I think this was a shipping issue. The kit is a popular kit and listed as the #1 here in the US. It was on the top of the box of all the sprue and top of the shipping unit when it came. I never checked 6 weeks ago when I got the shipment and that was my mistake. Folks there would have replaced the model. If you are interested Tamiya USA has the instructions on their website in a download form.

Good Day Folks. I have a short update.

Thanks to @Twokidsnosleep. I followed his advice and the links he sent on making Sprue glue. I was able to make the repair to the NSX. Body looks like new and no sign of a crack ever.


I remover a few mold like, there were 4 and I have a couple to remove under the body as you have a couple of spots on the rear inside that get paint so I want to clean up that area before I prime and one under the hood area that is ugly. Thinny sticks should make short work of this though. Here is my inspiration for the paint.

I am going to use Splash paint "Pepper Grey"

This is the color of the custom GT 500 Mustang "Elenor" from the 2000 movie "Gone in 60 seconds"

Thanks Scott! I layed down a coat of grey primer today. I will sand this tomorrow and lay down some Mr HOBBY 1500 finishing primer in white using the leveling thinner tomorrow. I have more dust than I want on the inside so I am going to have to be careful on the 2nd round. Rear upper inside gets body paint

WOW Scott, I saw the price of one of these bad boys... good grief Charlie Brown!
Well folks I laid down the paint on the body yesterday afternoon. A bunch of thin coats ~ 16 layers. I do mean thin too as I only used one bottle of paint
Lots of racing on today so I will not be doing much today. I think I will try to sand the body with 12000 micro mesh and get it ready for the P2K I intend to lay down this week.

I laid down some P2K today. My 1st time ever for doing this. I took a quick shoot shot before I placed the body into the light tent. I will get a look again in a week

My week drying time is up and I pulled out the body. It looks wonderful! This is the best I have seen a clear coat on a body yet!
I have added the small bits with the X-1 paint and the others with X-18 to the body. Plus the small clear ones with decals to the hood. So for now the body portion is done.


Next step is to start the driveline. I will work this off and on along with my SiFi build. Thanks for taking the time to look at my current build

I have made a bit of progress. Sitting here watching the races I spent the time drilling out the dots on the roters. Over 100 .4mm holes and 2 days to accomplish and going cross eyed

As you can see the front roters were a bit of a bear to keep drilling. Ugh
I started the chassis and should have some more done tomorrow so I can post a shot. HAGD folks

Thank you BRaYmE! It looks good when done, but it is a lot of work. Just be sure to shorten the bit to a small amount as it does flex

I did some work on the chassis prior to starting my SiFi build.

I was able to complete the chassis and rotors last night on the front end.


The next step is to complete the interior of the car. After some research I have three choices. The default red and black, Tan and black, and white and black. After much deliberation I have decided on White and black to go with the Paper gray car. The std red and black is just too bold.

barryf1fan: is how I felt after drilling those rotors!! Took 3 nights and I ended breaking the .4mm the last night and finishing with the nub . Like Jethro Tull said "Crossed Eyed Mary" LOL

I layed down some premier on all the interior parts last night in the heat. Now I just need to start taping after I cut my yard. It has grown so much I might need a bush hog to cut this grass after the guys added fertilizer and all this rain

Update: I had some time to do some work on my interior parts. I got all the parts primed, painted and the decals installed


I had some time to assemble all the pieces this morning so I have a finished interior. Not the best shot as I was in a hurry before we headed out to run some errands


My next step is to build the engine. I did a search on google to research the details for color and details. I was surprised to find the engine and and turbo’s are all silver in every picture.... found a new engine block, just the bare block $42,500 US. That is more than my 18 Camaro SS cost new!

Update Engine:
I got a chance to work on the engine and transmission for the NSX. I did research the engine bay prior to doing this work so I had something to use as a reference. The engine and transmission are all silver/aluminum in color just as Tamiya notes in their paint scheme. So this is what I did

after what was done I completed placing in the chassis and gluing in the engine and axels

Next step is to finish the bracing and painting. Hopefully the temps are a little lower today. 94/100 yesterday when I tried to use the Airbrush

Update: I was able to some work yesterday after I watched the LeTour and prior to Daytona which was rained out.
I finished the rear chassis of the NSX yesterday. This shot prior to the fender wells

My next step is to tape up the rear hatch area, add the carbon fiber and install completing the rear engine - transaxle area

Update: I completed all the chassis work, installed the glass, head lights, tail lights, rear bar lights and rear assembly’s

I got all the components done so I was able to mount the body to the chassis


The next step is the wheels and the belly pans. Car has a front & rear chassis pan
I plan to primer them tomorrow

Ton of progress!! Looks great, but man, those brakes . . . it's almost a shame you're gonna cover'em up. That exhaust looks too cool, too.

This one is gonna be a looker!

Completion: Well folks. I have finally had the time to finish the NSX. Monday I spent the day working in the yard and detailing my daughters car in the heat here. 90 felt like 98. Just tore me up.
I had all the remaining parts painted and ready on the NSX. I spent the day inside yesterday taking my time finishing all the little details on the car. I was happy with the results. To hot to take the shots outside so I use my Lightbox and backdrop for these pictures. Polarizer to cut the glare, but the glass has some polarization in it hence the rainbow effect you see in the plastic. Effect is called cross polarization

Looks great, you'd NEVER know that body was ever cracked. Lovely colour too.

Not sure if you know or not, but you can carefully remove the clear film from the 'H' (Honda) metal badges on the hood and the trunk, this just leaves the 'H' and should look even cleaner than it already does! Feel free to tell me where to go if you've already done this.

Gary, thanks so very much! I did try to remove that blasted film 3 times even the Acura one. It will not leave the "H" on the hood The other ones like the mirror and interior one came off just fine.....

Digger, thank you very much!

Watch this video, he tries....and fails I think the key is to really rub the metal sticker down first, and then peel the clear film away, but really pull it back on itself rather than trying to lift it up if that makes sense.

I haven't built this kit myself, but that's how I'd attempt it.
