I would like to present you a build started... a few times ago and still "in progress" ...

This WIP will depict the different steps of the building of the Ferrari 312F1 '69 de chez MFH.

This is a very beautiful model with crisp details and a high quality resin, tons of nice and precise white metal parts, machined aluminum parts, photo-etched sheets, decals... Top quality model!!

Let's go :

LThe body and the rear wing were riveted with 0.5 resin rivets from Calibre 35.
Holes and holes and holes.... 0.3 holes









Same for the cockpit area with 0.7 metal rivets and a new dash board.
New gauges are turned on the lathe.

Then, Pink primer to enhance the Rosso Corsa like the real one

Now need to work on the injection pump ...

Next step : Rosso Corsa !

Paint is from Zero Paint range, applied with an Iwata airbrush, HP-TH flat pattern: a real gun









Here we are :



Then, rims were painted gold and equipped with machined valve stems from RBM:





Detail paint job is still needed on bolts and here and there...

Next : detailing the brake calipers.
So, I added brake pads, brake copper lines and machined brake purges :



Gloss coat time :








I used the excess varnish to coat another Ferrari part :




Working on the white metal exhaust is needed :







Then white :





Work on the injection pump is also needed, mainly for fun and to use nice machined parts from RBMotion once again.
The main part is made on the lathe, then banjo fittings are installed with machined bolts.
Sorry for the pics, but I fund it pretty hard to shoot.




I also made and welded white metal supports for the throttle command :









The seat was lightly modified to allow an easiest and more realistic harness instalation.
The famous Ferrari Red / black stripes fabric was simulated thanks to decals.




A light burnt humber oil wash tone down the bright red and a light coat of mat will give a more realistic aspect... I hope.

Decals time; easier than on modern race cars

Does it take many coats to get a finish like that?
