Well Cock! first screw up after getting back to this hobby. Decided to start back on the Tamiya Lancer Evo VII. Primer went down lovely, decided too mask up and paint the white parts around the bottom fo the body rather then use the kit decals as I figured the red would bleed through. All was going great, somehow the body slipped in my hand as I removed the masking tape and BOOM!



So tried repairing tonight by sanding back the paint and primer and around the rivets. Reprimed and it didn't go well becuase I can't sand back close enough around the rivets without sanding them off.

So what are my options? sand them off and just move on and deal with it? or is there someway I can recreate them after sanding them off?

You could let things dry and sand the area completely , re-add the rivets and then re-paint. I have some styrene rivets if you need
You can strip the paint and try again....have used EasyOffgel oven cleaner in a glass container works quite well

If it is only one little area at the base there, I would go for spot repair

Yeah I did sand the paint of and reprimed but it looks horrible. I think I will sand flat (including rivets) and readd the rivets using some styrene that I have. Basically what you are suggesting. Thankfully the rest of the body is at the primer stage so its just a small area that needs to be reprimered.

Never tried to readd raised detail like that before. Ah well, might learn a new technique

Well, you probably won't do that again. Knocking over the Tamiya Extra Thin bottle seems to happen at least once a year. Open all the windows to air out the stink and always have an extra bottle on hand.

I skipped the TET spillage this year and went for spilling acetone for a bit of variety instead

Oh no i spill stuff all the time and spend loads of time cleaning up the kitchen roll gets hammered
