Hi my next build is the Honda RA272 by Tamiya.

I’ve made a start by building the exhaust system and part of the engine. Also prep some of the other parts ready for priming.

The bodywork is now painted with zero paints.




I’ve now finished painting the engine, I’ve used various Alclad and Mr hobby super metallics.

Hi all bit more done tonight, I’ve added the cage/frame around the engine. I have removed the plastic moulded in air trumpets and add some after market ones. I’ve also drilled out the fuel pump distributor to add some tubing.

Looking great so far! how did you get the stock trumpets off the intake manifold?? I surely would be looking for a new kit had I tried that... And, is that some custom tubing you made, or did it come with it?

Are you planning on some wiring as well??

Hi Barry
I cut the trumpets of with a Pe saw and then used the tip of a new blade to remove the remaining plastic, the pipes are part of the kit
I am going to add some fuel pipes.

Ok a few pictures of where I am at.

All parts are now painted, the monocoque and front suspension are now built.
All wheel hubs and disc are built.








Next stage is to fix the decals in place and detail the engine.

This has always been one of my favorite Tamiya F1 kits. The detail and fit are amazing straight from the box. Looks like you are building a wonderful version (your skills are great). Here is a photo of the car in action with Richie Ginther at the wheel:

Hi all and thanks for commenting, bit more done this weekend.
I’ve added the fuel lines.
Fixed all the decals in place. The round red one for the front fell apart so I had to make a mask and spray the red circle .
Fixed all the rear suspension together.











Just need to add the gloss coat and it’s nearly finished.

This is a really nice build - lots of extra details, and congrats on making the mask for the red circle. I bet that took longer than you'd think it would.
