Global Scale Modeller

Calling this one done - sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, may get some with the good camera soon. At least there's no work bench clutter this time (I'm a slow learner).

While not perfect, this was a real challenge for me and happy with the result and learned a few things along the way.

Ninja Edit: This kit was purchased off ebay a few months back for cheap - and had some issues, that of course the seller didn't disclose (my fault for not looking immediately).
Here's the "build" thread viewtopic.php?f=39&t=27262, if you're so inclined to have a look.

Kit was built oob with Tamiya TS spray cans for the body and components.
Details were brush painted with Tamiya paints.
Added the Scale Motorsports Yellow CF decal and had to source new sponsor decals as
the originals had yellowed in a couple spots.

Comments and tips & tricks welcome as I have no clue what I'm doing... (ie., it took me over two weeks to paint the body )













Tucked away in a case on the model rack, not lookin' too shabby I might add.

You didn't have to post in here, you had posted in the build thread several times - I was mainly meaning that it had something like 60-70 views and no posts... I think that is odd

Thanks again though man, it has some spots on it, but overall, pretty happy with how it came out. Again, was very intimidated by the paint scheme.

Well I did have to post as I followed along and then missed the grand finale
Likely just the time zones for things got crossed up

The best thing you have learned here is you can do it and can only go on to make a better job next time .

Your next model is always better than the last until you get to the stage where you do it without thinking [ but beware there will be times the gremlins take your knowledge away and your left licking windows] happens to me but keeps me on my toes loool

Your worst enemy is yourself as you compare your work to others and it always falls short in your eyes but to others like myself your doing great and making progress. Its a long learning curve and your well on the road to making some stunning models.

Great build and finish especially with rattle cans, not a easy paint scheme to do.

I did kinda feel that way after starting it, Andy, that I was gonna make a mess of it. After doing the Spain's No 1 bike, I felt this would be an easy kit to do, sans the paint job, but realized pretty quick that because of the age of the kit and that most the decals were toast that this wasn't gonna be the proverbial walk in the park.

There were a couple firsts for me on this kit - first time using the carbon fiber decals from Scale Motorsports, and first time (I'm almost 100% sure) that I painted every single piece on this model. For instance, the wheels were molded in black, and looked really good - to me anyway, but I primed them up in gray Tamiya Fine and shot them black, and same for the chassis. Fairly certain there was a time I would've left them alone. Learned a lot from this kit, but feel good about how it looks - even with the screw-ups.
